Topic: Call of Duty: Reflex vs. Black Ops

A while back I bought GoldenEye, due to it being rated 16 I played it for a while and decided it was ok for my son to play it, he´s 10. Now he´s constantly nagging me about Call of Duty and mostly Black Ops. Could someone point out the main differencies between these two games. I´m mostly interested in the cause of the different ratings, Reflex being rated 16 and Black Ops 18.
The little I have looked around I really can´t see why Reflex is rated 16 and Black Ops 18. The PEGI site doesn´t say much.
When it comes to features I have found...
Reflex: only controllable with WiiPointer and Nunchuck.
BlackOps: Classic support and voicechat with some headset.

if one has voice chat and the other doesn't, that's probably a big portion of the issue right there, lol. i wouldn't let your 10-year-old use that feature if I were you :3

Agree'd. Don't consider it an option, unless you can only hear voice chat when you can voice chat, but I doubt it's like that. Even on the Wii I presume that it would be aggressive, much to aggressive for a 10 year old to handle.
Conduit? lol jokes Really, I wouldn't know as what I have played of COD has been on PC, my advice would be to youtube both the multi player games, see how much they differ.

@theblackdragon: If I ever get Black Ops then I have heard enough crap about live chat on the other consoles to leave that option out. You might have a point there, teener (adult) game and livechat and 18 rating.

The campaign in BO is very adult oriented. Throughout it Mason, Woods, and the gang constantly blurt the F word and so on and so forth. Very colorful vocabulary. Whereas CoD4's isn't so much like that as if Soap and Captain Price are more professional in the field of battle if you were to say? So in other words they dont swear. As much.

Seems I´ll stick to what I said to him before. Forget about 18 rated games. I´ll check Reflex a bit more, Kid_Crono makes it sound no worse than GoldenEye wich I already have ok:ed.

Yeah, in this case Reflex would be the "safer" option. BO is a bit more graphic too in terms of violence.

@irken: Do you think Reflex is about the same level of gut and gore as GoldenEye?

Reflex is more like GoldenEye than BO is. The better choice would be Reflex.

The Black Ops signal player campaign is a little much for a 10 year old IMO.

I think that the biggest reason for the difference in the ratings of the two is the language in the single player. Black Ops is almost like this:

Keep in mind that online interactions typically don't factor into a games rating.

Maybe a little more bloody but not nearly as bloody as BO is.
