I'm probably gonna give Golden Sun DS a try somewhere down the road (probably the same time I give Dragon Quest IX a try...in 2020), despite not liking the first. Ironically, the only things I disliked were the very beginning (which turned me off the story entirely, and when that happens, my interest rarely comes back. The only exception was with Final Fantasy IV, and I still can't explain that one. Probably because it was still sort of difficult and charming), and of course the utter lack of difficulty and very little need to grind. The encounter rate was also annoying and I didn't care for the puzzles either, but I could've gotten over it if there was a good reason for me to care. Seriously, all GSDS needs to do is up the difficulty and tell the story better, and I'll have no quams about playing it.

Hmm, maybe it's the ol' mod in me coming out, but that's quite the robust derailment.

Ah, well.

YOU DONT KNOW THAT

Way to ruin my excitement for a game, TBD

Of course we know that, because thankfully Golden Sun is not Final Fantasy

Ah, well.

It seems to me like we're talking about a highly anticipated Nintendo game, one that's even anticipated enough to draw the attention of series detractors, which could very well boost their Christmas sales. Sounds on topic to me.

But how much did Microsoft and Sony sell?

They haven't said but I can confidently say neither will 'blow Nintendo away' and the chance of getting close to that number is near negligible(but not impossible). The Wii sold 550K on the week of black friday last year and that was when they annihilated the holiday sales record.

That's not Christmas...

You don't know, probably they buy the systems to give them as a gift on xmas.

I believe that's the Most likely explaination. I always felt that was the purpose to the dang holiday.

Nintendo seems pretty confident about holiday sales: http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=26602

Bah, they always gotta look confident. When they willing show signs of weakness, that's when you know its over...

Well, actually, that's me talking outta my rear, but still, who willingly says "we're pretty worried that our opponent might actually beat us" in the biz unless the opponent is really that good? It would just seem silly otherwise if you ask me.

That's just hardware, though. Kinect has sold through the roof. 3 million so far and counting.

MS said 2.5 million so far(which is still excellent), Move doesn't seem to be doing as well but could still do well but then again THQ's uDraw is apparently making a killing... although they only expected to sell a million and half or so.

Microsoft press release, from this morning:

Xbox 360 Surpasses 3 Million Kinect Sensors Sold

Microsoft Corp. today announced it has sold more than 3 million Kinect sensors to consumers worldwide since it launched less than four weeks ago. More than one million units were sold during the US three-day Black Friday weekend.

“We are extremely excited to see how consumers have responded to Kinect in Australia and around the world. It is truly revolutionary entertainment that creates a magical experience for the whole family,“ said David McLean, General Manager of Xbox, Microsoft Australia and New Zealand.

“Kinect will be one of the biggest gifts for Christmas this year, and is to date one of the most significant consumer electronic product launches in history. We’re currently on track to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers by the end of the year.”

Kinect is now available at more than 60,000 retailers in 38 countries. It is the only controller-free games and entertainment system available that lets you control games and movies, with gestures and movement. Retailers, reviewers and analysts are calling it a must-have gift this Christmas.

I also feel that Sony and Microsoft both have a better software lineup for Christmas (Kirby isn't being released in Europe/ Australia until next year, so we're pretty much just getting Just Dance 2, Epic Mickey and DKC for the Wii), though I also suspect older Nintendo software sells better around Christmas than competitors.

I still believe Sony and Microsoft will, overall, outsell the Wii at Christmas, but I am surprised that the Wii seems to be doing better than I expected.
