I found the prime trilogy @ walmart for $50 and bought since I enjoyed Prime back on Gamecube. Replayed 1 and had a blast. Started 2 and it just doesn't feel the same. I found myself constantly lost and not knowing where to go. Checked to see if the hint system was still on because an hour or so would pass with no progress. I can't enjoy games that make me rely on guides. Got to the spiderball guardian and couldn't take anymore. Am I the only one that feels this why?
Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.

There are plenty of other reasons to be annoyed by 2 anyway. None of which are necessarily awful beyond parts of Dark Aether sometimes blending together and being easier to get lost in. I could see that at least.
But my god was Torvus Bog such a pain. Between Dark Aether water, the abundance of those annoying tentacle Ing creatures that make going anywhere annoying and turn into transparent vapor all the time making them impossible to hit, the difficulty spike known as the Boost Guardian, the dark elite troopers, the slow boring easy boss at the end. Honestly if it wasn't the sequel (and thus fairly similar) to my favorite game ever, I likely would have given up on the game the first time. Thank god Sanctuary Fortress is a million times better and cooler.
I loved the elite dark troopers. But other than that I agree. But those troopers alone made me love that section. I still have dreams of fighting them from time to time.
Ah yes, the spider ball guardian. I remember losing my mind and throwing the controller multiple times. I also bought the Prime collection, but I'll never touch MP2 again.

I won't deny they're quite cool but, especially if you end up revisiting places a lot via being lost before you get the Dark Visor, it is incredibly frustrating. Again not bad maybe but I was so sick of those rooms where you fail to defeat them or even attack them until they go away because.

I found the Spider Ball Guardian to be a piece of cake, personally, IIRC. It's the Boost Ball Guardian who is a freakin' pain in the buttocks...
Then don't buy Dragon Quest 7 or 8. And no, you're not the only one who dislikes MP2. I felt it was a lot like the original but not as good. MP3 is the best in the trilogy.
I haven't beaten the whole game yet, but just from what I've played it can try your patience and is definitely more challenging than Prime 1.
I also wasn't a fan of the whole dark/light concept not only because of having to be in light spheres in the dark world, but because the world felt dull compared to something like Phendrana Drifts or the Phazon Mines.
I enjoyed the challenge of MP2. It certainly got difficult in spots, but it was satisfying to fight my way through the enemies, or solve the puzzle. As for getting lost, I had that happen, but I didn't have to use a guide. I just had to do some looking around and map-checking.
I found myself getting confused a number of times while navigating Prime 2 as well. The portal system is used too much, and rather than being a quick travel, they create more of a labyriinth effect on the game. That wouldn't be a problem if the game wasn't already bearing down on a player with Dark Aether's toxic atmosphere, which just made this game into mostly a tedious chore. The map system really didn't help matters either, due to this game having the most layered map models of the series, a design the maps have had an issue with conveying clearly.
Overall, I found Metroid Prime 2 to be the worst Metroid.
Compared to the other two Primes, I thought 2 was much harder. However, the Wii version was significantly easier to play than the Gamecube version in my experience.
When all else fails, eat a taco.

It's the one I least enjoyed out of the three because of this (and I was kind of disappointed as the first one was one of the best games I've ever played). The whole light/dark world thing made navigation very confusing and disorientating (not to mention being quite a tired gaming cliche by that point). I mean, Metroid games are pretty complicated and tricky to navigate as they are, having two parallel worlds to go in and out of just sent it completely over the edge in that regard.
Yah know what I liked Prime 2 alot, and in some ways I think it's better than the first, but I love them both the same. Corruption though disappointed me, not bad, but the music wasn't as good, story not as good, less journals and some other stuff. Maybe I like Prime 2 alot cause I was expecting it to be bad after all of what people said, but it's one of my favorites in the series, and I've played them all.. well besides pinball.
