Topic: Agree or disagree - the 'hardcore wii' movement has been self defeating and become an exercise in self loathing.....

We all know Nintendo does not make 'mature' games. They typically design pick up and play online, if they include it at all. Local multiplayer is a higher priority. Few games have much in the way of cinema, and those that do - Twilight Princess, Metroid 3, even MArio Galacy a bit - would arguably been better (I think) without them. In short, Nintendo makes Nintendo games, and the group think has been the Wii is in desperate need of 'hardcore' game design.

But it has all been overrated, and in my opinion, self defeating.

Remember Manhunt on Wii? - massive hype - wreck of a game.

That Ubisoft FPS, was it a port? - a disaster

Red Steel - massive hype - poor controls, juvenile story, naseau inducing graphics.

No More Heros - well this series has its fans....

Madworld - massive hype, but all about violence. pretty shallow.

House of Dead Overkill - sets a gaming 'world record' for swearing. That is embarassing, insecure and juvenile.The opposite of 'mature'.

Conduit - blandsville. Massive hype, mediocre game.

Did I forget any? What is upcoming ?

Gladiator - this looks preety blah, the hook seem to be violence - again.

Grinder - a lot of people seem to have high hopes for this.

Red Steel 2 - This game has a lot of hype, but if Red Steel 1 is an indication....meh

Do you agree - should not people hype well made games instead of looking for violent ones to 'save' the Wii? Part of the Wii disrespect stems from 'fans' wanting the console to share the same 'content' as the HD consoles, then looking for hope and change from mediocre titles, and being embarrassed and belittled.

Just my opinion, wii to me is EAD and wiiware. But that is just me.....

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant.

I thought you said in that other thread that if you are stating opinion, you have to say "to me" so that people don't think it's a fact?

But seriously, I completely agree. Probably thought I'd never say that, but I do. I've tried most of those games, and they just didn't do it for me.

Thanks for talking down to me again and trying to pick a fight Adam - I will not give in this time. Take note moderators.

Back on topic, I do not want to see this thread derailed.

edit : No, not Call of duty - it was set in a jungle, I am drawing a blank.

@Ricardo91
I thought he was talking about FarCry as the Ubisoft port.

Plus I'm sick of people slamming the controls on RedSteel. i thought it was a decent game with decent controls, especially for a launch title. People shouldn't be complaining about it's controls and yes about their lack of skill.

@Mrmicawber
How was Adam talking down to you? He added something that you should have said originally. Just because you think something sucks it don't make it so.

I was only doing exactly what he told me I should do, BrazMan. I don't know what the problem is, either.

FarCry as the Ubisoft port.

There you go, thanks. As far as Adma goes, do not bother, especially because you ignore the style in which Adam posts to me. Come on man, I am not stupid.

Ya, I thought all Call of Duty were Activision, I don't really follow the series though

@Mrmicawber
I ignore the style in which Adam posts to you? Why the hell should I care, it's between the two of you. Besides, I saw absolutely nothing wrong with adding (to me).

"I wish to get along with all as best as I can"
Look familiar? It's in your sig.

I jump online and I see some pretty hardcore players in Mario Kart. THEY NEARLY LAPPED ME ONCE THE SHAME

But I got them back. A solid weekend of 18 hour stints and my score was back to 8000

If Mario Kart (and Smash Brothers, and especially Pokemon) aren't hardcore games beneath a friendly exterior then I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT HARDCORE IS!?!?!

I like to think of your typical Nintendo game like a harem girl (we call them whores out here in the west, but harem girl is sexy and appealing and exotic, as opposed to STI-ridden) - sure it's pretty and alluring and promising fun for all the family on the surface, but once you get it's clothes off you are in for a wild ride.

Why the hell should you care? I dunno, you asked? I am taking a vacation, this is getting to be too much drama.

Just 'cuz I asked "How was Adam talking down to you?" automatically means I care? Riiight... you tend to blow things out of proportion, don't you?

Eugene, the terms hardcore and casual extists. Also, The Conduit is awesome. Oh, and do not criticze games you have not even played.

Replace "hardcore" with "mature" (most of the games listed are M, and even those that aren't follow the same style but with less gore and cussing), and I agree. Overall, efforts to market such games on the Wii have proven less than successful. Making games that target the PS3/360 demographic for Wii doesn't makes sense. Us Nintendo nerds are more than happy with Nintendo-styled games for the most part. Yes, there are exceptions and I'm not putting down anyone who loves any of the games listed above. The sales numbers speak for themselves. The Wii really isn't the right system for that kind of stuff.
