I've heard Prime 2 has an actual fair Boost Guardian fight. Even ignoring the controls, that automatically makes it the better version (now if only they could cut out Dark Torvus Bog entirely).

I beat Boost Guardian in Prime 2 (GCN) on hard mode and to this day I have no idea how I did it.

Oh God, not the Boost Guardian. I have the original versions of all 3, and the Boost Guardian is insane! I was trying to beat him for at least half an hour! Although, I hadn't played the game in a long time at that point...

Oh boy are you in for a treat if you get to Hypermode difficulty. I have beaten the first MP on all difficulties and let me tell ya fighting Meta Ridy on Hypermode was an absolute... !! It took close to an hour. I'm playing Metroid Prime 2 (the hardest MP) right now on Hypermode and then onto the 3rd which will completely 100% the difficulties for me :D

You refused to buy 3 games in one for a fair price?

To be fair, buying all 3 games separate isn't much cheaper...

Also, the Boost Guardian isn't that hard once you figure him out. But that alone is easier said than done...

I got it online for near $100. (I couldn't find it anywhere else) Completely worth it.

For me...Metroid Prime seems about the same, difficulty-wise...only difference I noticed (besides the minor arm cannon visuals) is during the final bosses.
Meta Ridley seems to take as long, before he kept charging and it took forever...now he's somewhat less predictable since the "NA bug" was fixed here globally. (you know, that bug that caused him to continuously charge and rarely do anything else? lol) As for Prime, eh, the "ditches" appear differently in every room, and the Metroids she spawns vary slightly. (before it was only 2 of the same, but now she'll bring out 2 different types, depending on the health. Fissions being the last)

As for Echoes, only thing I noticed is Boosty has been nerfed...he can still be a nightmare in Hypermode, but he still won't take THAT long to kill. (aside from that, only other minor difference is that Quadraxis' vortex spin is stronger...will pull you in regardless, so be ready to stop it, lol)

Corruption, for some bizarre reason, it took me forever to kill that Baby Leviathan thing at the very end. I mean, WTF...why did they increase its health that much? xD (also love how the seeds ACTUALLY explode here during the "Samus escaping" scenes, since they just sat there with smoke in the original)

I love Erica (Strike Witches), Eureka (Eureka Seven), and Tenma (School Rumble), stay away from them. xD
Update: Also love Yukari and Mizore from Rosario + Vampire.
Another Update: Also Yuuki...from School Rumble...
Yet Another Update: Also Amber and Xiao Pai from Rune Factory 4.

The Wii remote motion controls make it worth getting the trilogy even if it might be more expensive. Also, you don't need an SD card to save the game.

To you, but probably not to him.

The outcome will vary given the dire circumstances. I don't know you but I'm sure you've played the games in advance of your purchase of the trilogy and/or did research based on the game's reception beforehand. He probably hasn't done either.

Honestly for me it just comes down to $$ have other responsibilities/wants and $100 on that game is a definite no for me right now :)

Personally I'm a Super Metroid fan myself :P

Guys, can anyone tell me what controls are better, the NGC or the Wii version.
Will I be able to use the NGC controller to play the MP and MP2 Echoes? (If I play from Metroid Prime Trilogy DVD)

Wii controls are definately superior. I don't think I could ever go back to playing Prime 1 and 2 on a GC controller.

And no Primes 1 and 2 are only playable with Wii controls. But that's not a huge loss, once you're accustomed to Prime 3's controls it'll feel much more precise when aiming, its easier to just flick the remote in order to do a Morphball jump, etc.

I don't think MP Trilogy is worth the $100. I've already played the original GCN versions, and 3 for Wii. Updated controls, hypermode, and tokens aren't worth another buy for me. It was when I saw it for $30-40 used at GS years ago, or even $50 new, but it's even older now. I'd rather buy MP1 & 2 for $10 combined, and MP3 for $5. Save $85 to buy probably 9 more worthwhile Wii games.

I'd recommend playing them on Veteran, Prime 2 in particular is very challenging, but so rewarding when you're finished. Hyper mode is not easy, seems downright impossible at times so don't worry about it being too easy. Whoever said they were "dumbed down" was just using hyperbole to sound cool, some gamers like to pretend like a game is not challenging just because they beat it on the hardest mode and want to show off. You're very lucky to have Prime Trilogy, and I would highly recommend playing it as I think it's one of the best games on Wii and I think the new controls make a giant improvement.
