Lots of tricks going on; take away the textures, bump-mapping, and lighting and it'd look pretty bad.
You can say that about all video games.
I agree.
Well yeah, what I meant was it'd be really obvious how low-poly most of the stuff is. Kinda like this.
Why use loads of polygons etc. anyway when you can use "tricks" to create the same effect. It's all about effective use of the medium. I still want cell-shaded though.
The advantage of more polys = more stuff. More enemies, more trees, more grass, or w/e you want. Not necessarily all the extra polys have to go on one object.
I want a less dark style, most HD games have dark tones, but the world is made up of colors lots of bright colors (then again it could be because of the town I live in that I believe the world has colors....)

Are those graphics even possible with current PC's?
Hell yeah is quite possible, but still the DEMO looks very impressive and had to get in mind, that we are watching this picture throw a pc not in a hd tv with the console in they full specs.
It's called Skyrim. Kaboom.
Skyrim has good graphics, but still not quite good as they should, all the characters looks like robots...like "video game characters"...
Gents, these graphics are still not on par with PC ones, these are similar to Skyrim at medium detail or The Witcher 2 at minimum detail, the difference is that a PC would be able to render not one but many spiders like that at the same time.

Your point? Game consoles have always been inferior to PC's. That's because console manufacturers use low-end tech so the console is affordable. The PS3 was an exception, but even that got eclipsed by PC's in just a couple years. Also, consoles use standardized tech so developers don't have to worry about tailoring their games for different hardware configurations.
Which reminds me some important PC feature, they are scalable, as well as PC games. Why consoles are not is a mistery, lets say increasing the memory of a PS3 and run a game with better detailed textures, or will less "loading" situations, add another CPU and run a game with twice the number of polys or enable multitask so you can be downloading "WiiUware" while playing any game, etc.

Neither... I want something more like the NES, SNES. and Gameboy Color's official artwork. The Japanese one used in instruction books. Not the "mature" garbage used for the strategy guides. And I certainly don't want it to look like another Twilight Princess. Save the awful realism for another series that actually needs it.
I don't always give myself signatures, but when I do, you just read it.
