Topic: Zelda Music: why not ask Lindsey?

I just was wondering, since almost everyone and their grandson knows Lindsey Stirling and her awesome contribution to youtube with her stunning Zelda medleys, why not get her onboard and let her do the soundtrack to the new Zelda for Wii U / 3DS?
Anyone has the number of Nintendo? Just saying, since she's really cute, talented and does a better job of advertising Nintendo than Nintendo themselves imo.

For anyone who doesn't know her yet, here's the link (haha WORDPLAY):

While i doubt that this would actually happen, I wholeheartedly support such an idea (heh, see my signature )

Meanwhile, this video is definitely her most awesome Zelda music vid (it's the same medley as she plays in vid you posted, but an actual Zelda-themed video):

(BTW, I know there is/was a Lindsey Stirling thread somewhere around here)

I don't know...most of her own compositions seem to be a fusion of dubstep/electronica and violin. That kind of music wouldn't really fit into a Zelda game. Has she actually composed anything in "classical"-style?

Her original stuff is definitely primarily dubstep-fusionstyle (i have her album, which is excellent), but she certainly has the chops to be able to handle pure classical-type compositions.

I have enough musical experience to tell you that original scores are more difficult to do than remixes/rehashes.

I never understood why Lindsey Sterling is so popular. She's a pretty good violinist and a great dancer, but when she does both, her violin-playing downgrades to decent. There are a TON of other violinists on youtube that play WAY better than her. Don't get the idea that I hate her. She's a good violinist, I'm just saying there are a lot better ones out there. As for her musical compositions, I'm not a big fan of dubstep anyway, but her stuff does sound cool.

They should just stick with Koji Kondo or Hajime Wakai and the other guys.

I'm not experienced with music, but that makes a ton of sense to me. It's like saying a top-notch photoshopper should design the next Monalisa, IMO. They have talent, sure, but talents lie outside of what you're asking.

dont we have an orchestra with people just as good (and cute) as her? the Hyrule Symphony Orchestra, it's called, right? though it would be cool seeing her getting involved in the music behind Zelda. I imagine she could be of some use for music playing/writing when Zelda's on the screen (also, they could shoot a couple music vids with her, which would be neat-o).

Yes and those people are professionals that are much better than Lindsey.

True. Composing game music requires a lot of talent. You have to be able to compose in various different styles so it fits a certain scene and place in the game world. For example, "Gerudo Valley" (mexican(?) style) and "Inside the Deku tree" (ambient) from OoT. Both of them are very different stylistically. Playing a violin on top of some dubstep beats is ok for a pop album but it doesn't work in a game like Zelda.

Well I see where you are coming from and while you either like her style or not (I do a lot) and arguable there are better violinists out there, I actually meant let HER do or at least perform some kind of song for the next Zelda BECAUSE of her popularity in the gaming world. I mean her performance in the Zelda themed videos is outstanding and like I said she's a recognisable cute face getting lots of media attention, something Nintendo really could benefit of.

Heck I like her in that Link-costume in so many ways, and not all of them are right. She's just adorable regardless of agegroup, marketing-wise a very strong asset.

I can understand the marketing part a little bit, but if Nintendo wants to go all out they should go with the hardcore professionals. Get the New York Phil or Chicago if they had infinite money to spare.

Sure I'm all for that, but let Lindsey do ONE song or an official Zelda ad on the TV or something. Because the younger crowd won't care for the philharmonics, but they will see "the cute girl from youtube".

She may be talented and cute, but no thanks, this isn't some small kickstarter game.

I don't get how having an "pretty-good" musician making a song for a Zelda game will generate any more sales, let alone any more good songs.

I read an interview of koji kondo somewhere and he said he was planning on having a string quartet play a majority of the soundtrack for Twilight Princess and then recording a full orchestra for the big, grand parts of the game. When I read this, I thought how cool it would be if they got a quartet of some of the top musicians in the world to perform the soundtrack of the next Zelda game. Itzhak Perlman, 1st violin. Sarah Chang, 2nd violin. Some famous violist, viola. Yo-yo Ma, cello. That would be SOOO awesome!!!

Again, just let her do ONE song,
that way you can have a sticker on the game saying "featuring Lindsey Stirling Song XY" with a pic of her in Link-garb, smiling. So many people know her from youtube, it surely would raise overall Zelda popularity. I didn't mean let her do ALL songs.
