What the heck is going on?

A new youtube update messed up things but a workaround has been found to get videos to play:

You can workaround this for now using a embed link:

like : youtube.com/embed/VIDEOCODE

just get rid of watch?v= and anything & and past

so instead of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RL7PlpExXIQ&feature=g-high-u
use this: http://www.youtube.com/embed/RL7PlpExXIQ

just edit the url in the broswer of your video to be a embed link.

This defiantly needs a real fix though.

No probem, this problem really needs to be sent to google and nintendo.

I think it was a cunning plan to get people to use the youtube app on the Wii U. OMG, that thing is horrible. I want to know who approved it at Google and at Nintendo because they clearly didn't look at it for long. It is actually quicker just to go to the youtube website on the browser than sifting through the nothing screens on the app. Thanks for the work around.

yeah they totally ruined youtube now... first it as there new layout which was kinda weird but still use able and now they ruined it with not being able to watch vids on the wii u browser unless u use that method but still not good and there app rly sucks and its so slow ._. what happen to that one saying " if it isnt broken dont try to fix it" ?

I think Google's having trouble grasping the idea that if you want people to use your awful app, make the app better, don't make everything else worse.

I hope the outcry convinces them to just give up and let us have our fun. At least there's a workaround, but it's still a lot clunkier than it needs to be. This was a great feature, we'd like it back guys!

The YT app for the Wii was a good idea because the Wii didn't have the capacity of running the browser and YT videos without problems. For the Wii U, however, the system is more than capable of handling both at the same time, and also gives the advantage of continued browsing while a video played. Just remove the YT app from Wii U, and correct the bug (intentional or not) that prevents the browser from playing YT videos.

Discovered this last night too. Hopefully it will get fixed quickly

i think that the embed workaround is too tedious.... so i hope they fix it soon everybody should spam the send feedback button lol

The app is atrocious and I would be very surprised if some sort of update is not on the way.

It's exactly the same app as the PS3 and i agree it is awful.I hope they fix this issue soon so we can view YouTube videos from our WiiU browser.

the app is awful... I saw this today as well. Google needs to get there act together... the new youtube also sucks

God this sucks so much a** I was actually using my Game Pad as an Internet Tablet it was fantastic with the YouTube Videos being able to play on the TV while I surfed the net.
This better get sorted out pronto

I have noticed now though on the YouTube home page of the browser it says Adobe flash player needs to be updated so it could be a cause maybe

Here is the best fix so far, put _popup right before the ? in the web address and your good to go!

This really sucks. Youtube on the gamepad was perfect. Tried to use the app but it's really horrible. Please fix your site, Google!
