And if Nintendo thinks that the best way to play Smash Bros. is with a GameCube controller then what does that say about the 3DS game coming out? They going to release an adopter for that to so that I can hook up a 13 year old controller to my 3DS XL?

It's been working for Sony since 1994.

Wait, why is OK for Sony to use the same controller for 20 years, but not for Nintendo?

But with Nintendo wanting to make the Gamepad more relevant, this is going to affect the Pro Controller. If a game requires the Gamepad, then the Pro controller cannot be supported (except for multiplayer)

But they are going to make it more relevant with a handful of games. We had a handful at launch and we are going to get a second wave but most games are still going to be sticks and buttons.

I think even games like Zombi U or Lego City undercover that require the gamepad for single player would not be made that way today if they were still in development. I am of the opinion those games would have an off tv mode or pro controller support or probably both and I base that on the trends of controller support we have seen in software.

I have never tried the Pro Controller. The GamePad feels great to me. Guess I don't need a controller to make me a feel like a "pro."

The gamepad is simply inferior as a regular controller to the Pro. Having the screen means its still the ideal thing to use for single player stuff on the Wii U, but for Virtual Console games and games that don't use the pad for anything unique (providing you still want to look at the television - if you didn't why did you buy a home console?) it is better.

I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't support it whenever they can, but as I said - if we're talking about a first party title that uses the gamepad well and is single player, the gamepad makes sense anyway.

Except that Nintendo paid Tt Games(WB) to specifically make the game a second screen game, and Ubisoft WANTED to use the second screen to appeal to people who actually know what the consoles is about. It just so happens that ZombiU wasn't that successful, because it wasn't perfect. If ZombiU was a better game, it would have sold better. That doesn't even ahave anything to do with the second screen.

I have yet to get a game that will support the Pro Controller for additional players that doesn't also support the CC/Pro. As I have three Classic Controllers, I therefore have no incentive to get one, though I'm sure it's a nice controller. For single player games, the Gamepad is supported and I have the expansion battery and that works fine for me.

NSMBU ? (I know it supports the pro controller and wiimotes).

Mass Effect 3: Special Edition support the GamePad or Pro Controller, but not the CC. Besides that, most games support it. I think some eShop games may require it over the CC, but I haven't really checked.

People will eventually need to upgrade. They don't really sell the CCPro much of anywhere anymore, from what I've seen, and the only other controller options would be the Wii remote. We don't even know if some games will supprot GCN controllers, but Pro controllers and CC are basically guaranteed ti work with everything(one of which isn't as readily available anymore, as mentioned).

I think I need a Wii U Pro Controller for two things:

1. As a second cheaper controller for friends.
So I don't need to care about them damaging the touchscreen or analog sticks when playing certain games.
You can always buy a new Pro Controller, but you can't get a new GamePad easily.

2. For games where a Wii U Pro Controller is absolutely needed for multiplayer. Like Zen Pinball, CastleStorm, or Guacamelee. For games that unfortunately can not or do not support Wiimotes and Classic Controllers in their multiplayer modes.

As of now I'm avoiding games that don't support all the possible main controllers in their multiplayer modes.
It stinks having all those Wiimotes, Nunchuks, Classic Controllers, and even Gamecube Controllers but not being able to play a pinball table in 2p mode.

For singleplayer the GamePad or Wiimote+Nunchuk (depending on the game) is great enough.

Well I have four Remotes so...

I can't really see Nintendo dumping support for the Classic Controller unless a game doesn't use a remote; even then games like Warriors Orochi 3 uses it as a second player option which frankly surprised me.

I disagree, I got the pro with my bundle but I don't use it unless I'm playing multiplayer and even then I'm the one using the gamepad. The pro is more for the gamers that are used to other controllers.

What I don't get is why Nintendo swapped the right face of the controller to be more like the DualShock. The Gamecube had its second analog stick on the bottom and the diamond button layout on top, like an Xbox controller, and it felt more natural. Then again, the large A button also contributed a lot to why the Gamecube controller just felt right.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Do Japanese Wii U Pro Controllers work on a PAL Wii U?

Which would be anyone who has ever played games before, since the gamepad is unlike all controllers that came previously!

Good point, since obviously the gamepad isn't like any of the Nintendo portable systems at all...

Exactly. I don't remember Nintendo producing a handheld that was the size of a skateboard.

Okay I see where that went wrong. It meant it more as I give it to those that just can't play anything other than eiter Dualshock or Xbox, like my uncle. Any controller other than the dualshock he just can't handle. While I give the gamepad to those that are open to new things.
