A great controller, my first choice in MK8 and in shooters online like COD....

Love it, even if I find it too much expensive for what it is...

Increase I hope. It's my preferred controller for almost all of my WiiU games, the exceptions being Super Mario: 3D World & TLoZ: The Wind Waker HD.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

I feel like if the GC controller is really popular (most likely will happen due to smash) I think it might become the standard controller and overshadow the pro-controller.

I got mine yesterday and just spent the morning beating all the time trials in MK8 as well as the Mirror Cup for the Golden Kart as well as Tires. After that I can say that the controller is decent, and at least for MK8 it is my preference now. My hands used to cramp after two or so hours playing with the Gamepad. Luckily, I don't have that problem with the Pro Controller. One thing I'm not really happy with though, are the shoulders buttons. The pressure point doesn't feel right, it feels somewhat loose and too 'soft', also the way is too short. Several times when I changed my grip slightly, the button would come back out a little and loose contact, stopping me mid-drift oder sending whatever item I was carrying flying. I got more careful, but, still, I do wonder, why they didn't go with similar analog triggers to the Dual Shock 4 and the X1 controller. Both of those end up being vastly superior to the Pro Controller, although it gets the job done, too. The stick layout is also not optimal ... Too bad, there is no adapter of any kind that would allow me to use either my X1 or PS4 controller on the WiiU. Well, we can't have everything I guess. ^^

it is much more cheaper... how it is in term of reliability? I heard about issues about fast breaks....
How would you review it?

Well mine hasn't broken yet but if people have experienced that then what can I say. In terms of performance, a pleasure.

I did notice during MK8 that when you pause the game using it and start again, there is a brief loss of input for about 0.5 seconds, but I countered that by pressing acceleration straight away upon re-entering the game. A minor but noticeable thing. Other than that, it feels great in the hands, the optional lights are extremely satisfying and the rumble is as good as the normal Pro Controller if not a tad better, with the bonus that you can see it working

Yeah do it. I've only used it in MK8 so I dunno if that input issue is there in other games. Don't think twice.

EDIT: Probably should say as the well the Battery life is only half as good as regular PC but still over 20 hours, turning lights off even better. D-Pad is less good than regular PC but who uses it anyway, whilst the triggers are pressure sensitive unlike the PC - which is obviously better but I don't know how many games will utilize that bonus. Great product nonetheless.

No.

Considering the Gamepad is the central focus, it will probably not see too much use

Considering that the last three big releases on the Wii-U (DKC:TF, SM3DW and MK8) all made little to no use of the gamepad, and that Bayonetta 1-2, Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros, etc, will all be pro controller compatible (and probably best played using it) it will probably see a lot of use.

I love the Pro Controller. Unless I am playing Nintendo Land it is the only controller that I ever use for the system. I think Nintendo is making a big mistake by bringing back GameCube controllers. It took me about 5 minutes to adjust to the GameCube controller for Melee when I was used to the N64 controller for the original Smash Bros., so I think people could also adjust to the Pro Controller for the new Smash Bros. pretty easily. These new GameCube controllers and that adaptor are just needless extra expenses and I have no idea why everybody is so damn excited about it. The Pro Controller is just fine.

And if Nintendo thinks that the best way to play Smash Bros. is with a GameCube controller then what does that say about the 3DS game coming out? They going to release an adopter for that to so that I can hook up a 13 year old controller to my 3DS XL?

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

This is what I love about Sony. When I buy a PlayStation game I know that there is only one controller option. You play everything with the Dualshock and it works just fine. No extra peripherals or any of that garbage. You just use the controller that comes with the console. It's been working for Sony since 1994. I have no idea why Nintendo now thinks that it needs to provide 6 different control options for their games.

Exactly.

The GameCube controller is being brought back as a cash grab to appease a small percentage of the 'hardcore' Smash Bros fan base and is in no way being considered as a long term control scheme for the Wii-U. It can only be used in conjunction with a wired adaptor as well, which needs to be purchased separately. Not very user friendly.

It's laughable to think that this will ever catch on and be considered a serious controller for further Wii-U titles (barring the mythical GameCube VC releases) let alone surpass the Pro Controller as the 'go to" secondary control method.

It's a nice controller but I much prefer the GamePad. I hate missing out on any feature big or small because of the pro and classic controllers. I will use it for multiplayer games that only works with a GamePad and Wii U Pro controller though like CastleStorm with no support of the Classic controllers which I find weird and somewhat lazy. Matter of fact that is the reason I got a Wii U Pro.

I think they should leave it as it is. Don't make it mandatory or a must that makes you run to the store in order to play a game single or multi. After all what makes a Wii U is the GamePad and it's innovated features and you can't steal attention away from that.

Sony has alternative controllers, too. Remember PS Move? The worse thing is they don't even supported the damn thing. There's no harm in having choice, given that you have a good default option. With the Wii U, you have the GamePad, which is a good controller packed with features for anything you could think of. With Sony, your default is the DualShock, which is the worst dual-analog controller know to mankind as far as I'm concerned.

I don't see it as pro controller vs gamepad as some posters seem to.

The gamepad can always function as a pro controller for any game because it has all the same buttons.

The gamepad's extra features can only be used for single player games or asymetric gameplay because the system only supports one gamepad.

Because of that it is fine to have the gamepad as the default controller on the system because it can support all single player experiences while multiplayer requires additional controllers. The reality that we have seen is that most games will support a more standard stick and button control scheme because ultimately that is the default control setup on the system (and classic controller should be supported as well).

The rules of Wii U controller support:
1. All games work in single player with the gamepad. (because of its sticks and buttons)
2. Traditional games work with pro controller or gamepad.
3. Some games are designed around or enhanced by the gamepad specific features (this is the smallest segment of the Console library)

I prefer the Pro controller to the Gamepad. I choose it every time when given the option.

But with Nintendo wanting to make the Gamepad more relevant, this is going to affect the Pro Controller. If a game requires the Gamepad, then the Pro controller cannot be supported (except for multiplayer)
