A premature creation lacking in reaching its creative vision. The Wii U tried to push games in a new direction, but simply gave up as soon as things started to turn. Nintendo didn't plan the release well. They expected companies to jump on the Wii U like it was an inexpensive party bus headed to Las Vegas, but when it broke down everyone else jumped off and tried hitchhiking. I want the Wii U to succeed, but Nintendo is going to have to step it up if it's going to. So to describe the Wii U in four words: Good Concept, Horrid Execution.

For me the Wii U is just starting to hit it's stride, JUST. But the delay of DK has turned this Xmas from a great Xmas season to a painfully average one for Nintendo.

I think Wii U is an amazing console. It has all the potential. When I played Arkham City: AE, Zombi U, Mass Effect 3, I feel the console is really special. It is an incredible experience to play with the game pad. Maps are critical to me and I just love it that you can manipulate them on the controller. Any innovation on the controller has been welcomed with me. I feel the same way I did when I first played Resident Evil 4, or The Force Unleashed on the Wii.. or Mad World, that the Wii controls really added a great level of fun, a layer that is crucial to really enjoying the game.

So I really dig the Nintendo's hardware innovations. I just wish everybody jumped on board. I am sure that I will love Deux Ex and Splinter Cell too, because they both use the controller. But what else? I don't know, the same question I had with the Wii... they weren't too many third first shooters using the Wii remote... RE4 was just that. So you buy the games that are there, but they are not that good, and you are missing on things that could have been incredible... every multiplatform title released could have been better on the Wii U with the Game Pad, but the third parties are impotent... they're scared, they're worthless, they're unimaginative... you get a few games from them at launch and then only few survive. Ubisoft really deserves a lot of credit for being, you know, normal. Developing for the awesome game pad.

Nintendo I like the Mario games, Nintendo Land, Donkey Kong, etc, but I don't think they would do the same games that use the game pad so well like the ones mentioned above. So I am missing those. Still, I am happy with what there is. I played The Last of Us and Tomb Raider and both felt pathetic compared to playing with the game pad. Same like before when games used wii remote controls instead of pathetic regular dual analog. Just my opinion.

I love my Wii U. Sunk 6 hours into Monster Hunter yesterday, and I've been having a blast playing NSMBU, WWHD, and EarthBound. The load times between menus needs to be shortened a lot (I also wish there was a way to send a quick message to someone on your friends list), but it's a really sweet system. Very happy with it. If it had Tomb Raider, the FF13 trilogy and Sonic Gens I'd have no use for my 360.
