Folks I'd love to see what your combined creative efforts could create, most of us have first hand experience with Wii U now, so tell me, are you happy with the current use (in game) of the gamepad and what would be YOUR ideas to use it?
Here are mine:
o) LEVEL and COURSE editors. The gamepad would be perfect for this, using a stylus to create your own course in Mario Kart, build your own levels in some platformer, design your own landscapes and maps in games like advance wars, the gamepad really gives you almost pinpoint accuracy like on a PC so this would be a very clever use that cannot be easily reproduced on another console (yet).
o) PUSH assymmetric gameplay, like a game like LA noire, one guy on the gamepad is a criminal murdering and stealing his way through a big open city and a special unit of 4 cops (split screen on TV) tries to catch him. Or give us a big open world, best online multiplayer, space ship battle game and up to 5 players can be the crew of ONE ship, the guy with the gamepad is the navigator, one guy is engineer fixing damaged parts running around in actual spaceship, redirecting energy etc, another one is weapons commander that can drop mins and fire rockets and lasers on the command of the captain (the guy with the gamepad) the next one is health officer running through spaceship picking up and healing NPCs while the remaining one is the communications officer trying to forge alliances with NPC and Player spacecraft while the battle wages on for public objectives. THAT would be stunning!
o) Bring OFF-TV-gaming to as many games as possible.
o) In racing games put all your telemetry and speedo/tach on there, like in a race car (too bad that thing doesn't have analogue triggers).
o) Bring the SPIRIT CAMERA games to Wii U, using the gamepad in a reall frighting way, just like in the 3DS game, just technically better.
At this point I ran out of ideas,
I just think only having a radar map and inventory items on it (which is nice to have) shouldn't be the (only) general use of it!
There's a particularly funny image I remember showing one use for the GamePad overlapping the TV screen, but it's not very appropriate to post here. (Hint, hint.)
But on the other hand, here're some ideas from me (as an old two-part feature I wrote some time ago): First.Second.
@Gamelord08
I think the second link is broken.
I read the first one, and I would love to see Pokemon Snap - I think that is one of the most obvious and popular choices for a Wii U game.
As a fan of MTG, the gamepad does seem like it would be a good fit for that sort of thing. Though with so many formats and power issues in MTG, online matches might not end up working out so well. It would be great as a local experience if more than one gamepad could be used, but that doesn't seem realistic for a number of reasons.
I really do think you will see a run on the Magic type games. It will be either all electronic using two game pads or one pad utilizing NFC. I am betting on the NFC.
yeah pokemon snap game comes to mind but idk i didnt like the cam type they have in nintendo land were you have to move the game pad up and such to fix the cam =S

i stopped playing mario kart now and moved on to luigis mansion :P
Ya, that's why Nintendo doesn't want GTA 5 to be on Wii U, to 'make it rain' at the strip club mini game. The Wii U gamepad would make GTA 5 TOO immersive!

I'd really like to see the gamepad used for some immersive RTS games.
I'd also like to see a game like Mario & Luigi RPG 4 use the touchscreen for commands and special attacks.

I'd really love a good RTS game. Being able to look at two areas of the map at once would be super helpful. It would need to come with a stylus or something for accuracy's sake though. RTS games are always going to be better on the PC due to mouse control, but there has to be some way to come close to the same precision on a console.
@WesCash: To be honest, I've never played Magic: The Gathering, so I'm unaware of whatever conflicting issues there may be with that coming on consoles. I just used it as a probable example to outline the bare potential for any TGC on the Wii U; maybe substitute it for a homegrown Pokémon TGC instead.
