61skywakeThu 25th Aug 2011 The Wii got it right and so does the 3DS and pretty much every smartphone/tablet around. Icons that tell you what things are, touch them they load, highlight notifications. Simple, easy, done. If it ain't broke don't fix it.If you want something cool at most put the icons on the Wii U controller and some sort of "display" on the main screen. Maybe have Wii-style channel icons on the bottom and the "preview" thing before you start the game on the main screen....... which now that I think about it is exactly what the 3DS does. Want a cool animation thing with your Mii running towards the application you're about to load? Do it on the TV rather than the menu......Second Life style hubs are just an annoying idea really. The menu should only exist to get you to where you want to go as quick as possible.
