What is your favorite controller to use while playing your favorite games? Is it the gamepad, the pro controller, the wii remote, the classic controller or even a third party controller such as the nyko wii u pro commander? Mine so far is the gamepad, but I'm looking into the pro controller or the nyko pro commander.

Depends on the game.

For Mario Kart I have been finding the classic controller pro to be my favorite. The shoulder buttons just feel a little bit better than the triggers on the pro controller for this game but sometimes I don't want to bother with the cord.

For 3D world I prefer the pro controller.

For off TV play I prefer the gamepad haha

For Wind waker HD I prefer the gamepad.

For many games you don't have a choice.

I have not tried the Nyko Pro Commander but if local multiplayer becomes more popular in my house in mario kart I may get one instead of a second Wii U pro controller.

I like gamepad & TV for pikmin 3, gamepad or wiiu pro controller for COD and gamepad for sonic & All stars. My thumbs are more comfortable in the high position.

For MK8 right now, I'm using a combination of the TV and Pro Controller, with the GamePad on a table in front of my chair.

WOW! JUST SAW NINTENDO RELEASING A GAMECUBE ADAPTER FOR WIIU!!!!

As you can see from my handle, GameCube is/was my favorite system mainly because it was easily the best controller of all time. People do not give the Gamecube controller enough respect and due credit at all. Just brilliant. The lack of symmetry of the buttons is what created some negative feedback, but IMO is the genius behind Gamecube controller

Anyone know if games already out now (like MK) could be updated to support gamecube controllers?

I would guess Nintendo no longer makes Gamecube controllers? I have 2 standards and one Wavebird.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Wii U Pro Controller. I like it even more than the Classic Controller Pro (and definitely over the plain old Classic Controller). The main thing(s) i'm not crazy about on it are the triggers (they feel a bit cheap and are just buttons) and kinda wish they'd moved the right stick into the same position as the 360/Xbox One controller(s) (meaning I didn't like trying Black Ops 2 or Mass Effect 3 with it and even moreso with the Gamepad). Other than that the battery life is great on it and for the types of games I play it's great overall.

I do like the Gamepad as a close second and sometimes alternative to the Pro Controller though. For some games it's too big (and awkward) but other games like Virtual Console I really do find myself looking down at the screen because for some reason the smaller screen helps me focus or concentrate on making difficult jumps in games like SM3DW or Virtual Console games.

I mainly use the GamePad, but I use the Wii remote+(and nunchuck) for the main games that use it, like Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, etc. The only people who use the pro controllers are my family, whenever we play a game like CoD, Sonic, VC, or whatever else the Pro controller is ideal for.

I love the Classic Controller Pro. I use it at every opportunity, including off-TV play. I have a rechargable Wii Remote that doesn't work if it's not plugged in so I just use it as a tether for the CCP. (It charges with a USB so it just plugs into the Wii U, effectively making the CCP a wired controller).
Not a big fan of the GamePad for general playing. tbh, too big and the battery runs out too quickly. Plus I find it better not to have to look down to see the touchscreen map or whatever; I keep it below the TV.
I want to try the Pro Controller but I've never used one so I can't comment.

I'm hoping Nintendo updates the Wii U so it treats connected GC controllers as Classic Controllers. All they're missing are the second Z button and the Select/Home buttons. Not all games use both Zs (e.g. Mario Kart) and Select/Home can be emulated as we have seen with USB adapters released by 3rd parties.

I don't like the way they got rid of the guide bit on the sticks on the Gamepad and Pro Controller.

(Pretty accurate 8 way control as well as analog worked just fine with that mechanism.)

Usually the Gamepad if I'm playing alone. If I'm playing with other people, then I'll usually take a Pro Controller instead.

I just imported a sealed one from Japan for $37 with free shipping.

The gamecube controller is maybe one of the most praised controllers of all time (with the PS4 controller) I can't see how this controller need more respect and credit...

it seems as though people care more about the GCN controller now, than they did, back in the day.

Depends on the game and what mood I'm in. With most of my third party games I shut the gamepad display off and just use the pro controller. I find it distracting sometimes (ie. in Assassin's Creed the map rotates as you change direction and I find it so distracting to have movement on the gamepad when I'm trying to focus on what's going on on the big screen). But for something like NFS: Most Wanted U, they've done a good job at finding a way to use the gamepad. Mass Effect 3 is okay too (I'm used to just playing ME with a controller though). But most of the time, I go pro.

But for something like Wind Waker HD, I'll always use the gamepad. It's so nifty. I never really realized how many times you have to start and stop and start and stop in Zelda to open up the menus and look at your items and maps until I started playing Wind Waker HD and then went back and played a bit of Twilight Princess on the Gamecube. I actually found myself getting a little annoyed with having to stop the game all the time lol.

That's probably something I really like about the Wii U. Nintendo listened to consumers and has given players so many controller options. I don't have to go out and buy any more controllers because I already have four Wii-motes, a classic controller, a classic controller pro, a pro controller and the gamepad. Now they're bringing out the Gamecube controller adapter and I have four Gamecube controllers from back in the day. So I'm all set.

Gamepad, because I mainly play off-TV anyway. And gamepad actually is hella comfortable to play with. For Smash I'm either gonna buy a pro controller or the GC adapter, depending on the price..

I do use the GamePad a lot for off-TV, but when I use my monitor I use the Pro controller. I find the GamePad just feels really heavy/clunky to play with for very long, and the Pro controller is so nice and light in comparison.
