Hello again, koryz12, I haven't seen you in a while. And whether or not I'll be buying a Wii U depends entirely on E3. If Nintendo can Line up some killer games (like F-Zero, Star Fox, and something new), and the competitors don't show off something amazing (even on Pushsquare, the rumors piling up are turning me off the idea of getting a PS4), then I'll probably get one eventually. Otherwise, I'm waiting for the Wii 3, assuming it's backwards compatible.
For me, there's about a 90% chance that I will buy a Wii U. With all of the rumors that the next Xbox will be a brick of DRM and that both the next Playstation and Xbox will entirely block used games, I refuse to pay money to companies that put developer satisfaction over consumer satisfaction. Say what you will about Nintendo, but they let people play their games when the people want to. It's almost incredible how a large chunk of developers have forgone this idea.

Day one. I've been saving Best Buy gift cards for a couple of years, and I have enough to get the console and probably a couple of games. I'm going to walk in there with empty pockets and walk out with a Wii U and some games!

i see what you did there
on topic: no doubt i wil be getting the system day one, its going to be fun
I would like to get it on launch day. The 3DS was the FIRST console I bought with my own money and on launch day. Would like the WiiU to be the first home console I buy on my own and on the first day. Too early to know for sure on my end, though.

I thought you didn't want a new Star Fox on the Wii U? Or have you finally come to your senses?
Price of the console and its games will be a huge factor (assuming it is as good as I expect it to be).
One of the reasons of why PC gaming is rising is because it is cheap, you dont need powerful PCs to run things quite nicely (not on high specs, but in medium-low) and things like steam make games much more affordable, really a gamers life saver IMO with some of their promos.

I said I'd buy the Wii U if it had it. I didn't say I'd get Star Fox specifically. I'd still prefer it on the Wii, but if it's on the Wii U, there's a 99% chance the Wii U would do better than it would without it (not that I'm rooting for its success or anything. In all honesty, I'd much rather the Wii U failed so I don't have to spend money on it).
