As the year of Luigi has ended I was wondering what you guys thought of the year of Yoshi? It was hinted on something, I can't remember what it was though, that there is going to be a year of Yoshi. I think it is probably Nintendo trolling but I'd think it would be pretty cool if it does happen.
nope. it's the year of Sonic(according to Sega) and Nintendo will make some crazy extra partnership with Sega to get more 3rd party titles for WiiU before they're all gone.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I don't think this entirely stamps out the possibility of the year of Yoshi coming. Sonic is a different series to the Mario series and it could be possible that they are separate so there could be a year of Sonic and a year of Yoshi.
I don't remember anything being mentioned for a Year of Yoshi. Hopefully, Yarn Yoshi will make up for it.
That's because there never was a "Year of Yoshi". 2 games does not necessarily warrant a year of anything. I can barely understand why Nintendo did a "Year of Luigi" for 4 games...
I still think that it should be the year of the transsexual ostrich dinosaur thing from SMB2 that lays eggs out of its face.
you mean Birdo?

Oh wait, no. I guess I was still talking about Luigi.
you're trying too hard, just be yourself and don't try to pull those forced jokes with wrong timing not even trolls do that.

If Nintendo were going to do a Year of Yoshi, they would have announced it to coincide with the launch of Yoshi's New Island and the Yoshi 3DS. It would be foolish to come out now and be like, "Oh, hey, by the way, year of Yoshi!!!"
When I sit close to the stage, sometimes I get sweat or spit on me from the Runaway Five.
All of the previous celebrations have been around some sort of anniversary. The 25th Mario thing with the limited edition Super Mario All Stars thing was to celebrate 25 years since Super Mario Bros. Zelda's year (which included Ocarina of Time 3D, Skyward Sword and various other promotional stuffs) was a celebration of 25 years since the first Zelda game. The Year of Luigi was similar, it was about it being 30 years since the first appearance of Luigi. Hence the "30th" in the Year of Luigi logo:
Yoshi though? In 2014? It doesn't add up really. His first game was Super Mario World and it's 24 years since that, hardly a significant anniversary. It's also 19 years since Yoshi's Island so that's not really a good one either.
The only thing that's really significant about 2014 is that it's 20 years since Donkey Kong Country
