I picked up a basic system last night. I was thinking of holding out for the black one.... but really with an external drive attached, I don't see much of a difference. The eShop special with the black would have been nice..... but it's not a deal breaker.
i brought items in to gamestop, the employee there asked me if i wanted cash or credit, cash was $20 but credit was $25, so i looked at the employee like "uhh are you serious, isn't it common sense i'll want credit". then she didn't even ask me if i wanted anything preordered either. so she ticked me off.
Yeah I hate it when they give me options concerning my money. And then she didn't even bother to badger you with questions like the usual GS employee?

"uhh are you serious, isn't it common sense i'll want credit". Yeah, like your thoughts were any more professional than hers

You've already gotten ripped for this comment but it deserves further ripping. Why should the employee assume you want credit? Not everyone who sells games to Gamestop wants to use the money there. Also, here's a tip. I'm guessing you don't work retail, but retail employees aren't mind readers and if you wanted to preorder the Wii U, SPEAK UP. Just say "I would like to preorder the Wii U." You know, maybe after giving her death stares for daring to ask you if you wanted cash or credit, maybe she was scared to ask you if you wanted to preorder anything.
I was at an EB Games yesterday that had about 15 or more Basic/Deluxe systems just stacked up in front of the counter (I think slightly more of them were Deluxe than Basic oddly enough). Then I went to a Source today that had a Wii U demo station, yet they said they never got any Wii U stock whatsoever (yet they had the games to sell, lol). I wonder if Nintendo is purposely allocating the systems poorly so that people will think there is a shortage and snap them up without hesitation as soon as they find them in stock somewhere. If they're not doing it on purpose, they're doing a really bad job at distributing them.
.
Same w/the Target store is in my town, at launch i had high hopes for the deluxe one, the guy on the phone during the day b4 claimed if there was any left, i could have one. Anywho, i went to target, got there at 7:30a.m waited 'til 8, they were all out of both models but they had games to buy, what is a console without games? At least I had to go to High Score (video game retailer) they had one basic model left, so i bought it b/c the deluxe is still out of stock at gamestop, at walmart, at target and at my toys r us. I could've preordered @ gamestop but the lady ticked me, i brought items in to gamestop, the employee there asked me if i wanted cash or credit, cash was $20 but credit was $25, so i looked at the employee like "uhh are you serious, isn't it common sense i'll want credit". then she didn't even ask me if i wanted anything preordered either. so she ticked me off.
Really, getting ticked off over a question.. Would it of really hurt to calmly answer it. Hey at least your GameStop allows you to get cash instead of credit. Honestly, sometimes I feel sorry for those clerks who were only doing their job, only to be treated like idiots by people like you.
Well that appears to be a difference between the US and European basic sets then. Frankly I didn't need another sensor bar, so I'm very happy it didn't come with one.
Besides the digital promotion, the stands and the black console aren't too big of a deal. You don't save as much money, but in your case you didn't have a choice.
I remember back in September my parents told me I could get the Deluxe Wii U for Christmas, once the price was announced, my mom was planning on ordering it in November.
Well anyway, two days after the price announcement, I happened to Google "Wii U" out of curiousity and saw concerning news. It was sold out EVERYWHERE. We called Bestbuy, Gamestop, Target, Walmart. None of them had it. Finally, we turned to Toys R Us who was accepting pre orders. Anyway, I made my mom go there and pre order it (selfish, I know) but luckily I am getting a Deluxe for Christmas.
Anyway, I'd say take it out of the box and enjoy it!
Looking for some 3DS and Wii U friends. PM me if interested!
