And I can't say much about the game so I won't be answering any questions until later this month when the embargo guidelines lighten up a bit. Anyway, wohoo!!!
@VelvetElvis: Both are unavailable currently, but will become available to reviewers later this month.
Fantastic, thanks for the reply. In terms of press, it's good to know that ya'll will have access to the performance packs before the game releases, at least. Looking forward to your take on the game.
Anyway, I am pumped as all hell. Trying to clear out as much of my backlog as possible so I can really savor this one.
Anyone else catch this tweet from Nintendo World Report?
@Dezzy: Yeah, their comparison methods are definitely sketchy. Inspired me to do some quick research, though, and here's what I came up with.
According to Tech Times, Skyrim's world is about 39 square kilometers. The same source puts The Witcher 3 at roughly 3.5 times that, or 136.5km^2., while Vault-Tec says Fallout 4 is roughly 77.7km^2. That's a total of 253.2km^2. Meanwhile, Famitsu reports that Xenoblade Chronicles X is about 400km^2, which pretty cleanly outclasses that.
Of course, there's no real hard data here — the Xenoblade X info comes from director Tetsuya Takahashi, but the sizes of the other games' maps were figured by gamers. Plus we can consider how different the games are, structurally (much of The Witcher 3 is water, Skyrim is a whole lot of mountains, and Xenoblade X naturally has to be scaled up for the Skells, which are many times bigger and faster than humans).
Anyways, it's a neat little factoid. Exploration is one my favorite things to do in games, and certainly my favorite aspect of the first Xenoblade Chronicles. I'm stoked at the possibly of another, much larger, world with comparable art direction, which is something I often find lacking in open-world games.
I hope there's a option where you can turn off music made by Hiroyuki Sawano. Because I don't want to hear music that sounds its from Kill la Kill or Gurren Laguna.
Some random dude on Nintendo Life.
Toriel left for a while, so Freaky Fred took over her place!
Not changing this part of the signature until Nintendo announces Super Mario Sunshine 2.

Yes, most TVs are equipped with this feature.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

What? No, I meant if there's a option to turn Hiroyuki Sawano music while riding a Skell.
Sorry if I wasn't informative.

I know what you meant, I was just being a smart alec.
Yes, I'm sure there will be an options menu where there are different volume sliders for music, SFX, etc. If you're asking if there's a specific "turn off Sawano's OST while I'm piloting a Skell" box to uncheck in the options menu, then no, I think you're out of luck. But I have a feeling you already knew that and just wanted to let us know that you're not a fan of Sawano's work.

@Spoony_Tech: First game felt empty to me. I'm hoping XCX doesn't feel like this.
Big open worlds are only a good thing if they're filled with stuff to discover, people to talk to, etc. Granted, XC had some of this, but it was usually just MMO-esque busywork.
I'm looking forward to the game, but I also think a way to turn off the OST for some parts would be helpful. But either way, my expectations are not high for the game, since it seems like it won't top the first one in my book. I'm just excited to play multiplayer with people. It looks awesome
Don't forget that you need free space to download the texture packs to make the game smoother. I don't remember the size but 8GB comes to mind for some reason.
Is there the option for original Japanese voices in this, does anyone know?
I hope so. I never quite understood when ppl were saying quotes like 'I'm really feeling it' and stuff like that because I played the game with japanese voices. And I'm glad I did.
