The LE price in the UK Store is just horrible. I pre-ordered mine for 68,99€, though the standard edition in my region seems rather expensive at 59,99€ compared to the other european countries.
There is literally no reason at all for preordering the standard edition. Why do you hate your own money?
I wouldn't say that, most places will raise and lower the pre-order price before release but if you have a pre-order with them the price you pay will be at the lowest price it ever hit and will only charge you once it's dispatched. This especially good for places like Amazon that do price matching.

Ok well I almost never see sites doing that. But even if they did, that's the worst justification I've ever heard of. You're essentially saying "they contrive an arbitrary reason for us to preorder. Therefore we should preorder." No. The fact that they come up with this nonsense incentives for you to do it should tip you off to the fact that you're being manipulated and it's probably serving them more than it's serving you.

Where did you see it for 59.99€? Asking because everywhere I asked/looked for the standard edition they said it'll be 49.99€ (only been to Expert and Saturn. coolshop.de has it for the same price, tho)
Saturn and Media Markt still have it listed for 59,99€, no Expert close to me. There are some smaller shops that have it cheaper but the shipping fee kinda makes that irrelevant. I can see the price dropping to 50€ over time but atm it's kinda funny to me that you find the LE easier (Amazon and GameStop only have the LE listed, not the standard edition) and at a more consistent price than the standard edition.
In the end it doesn't really matter for me. I basically bought a Wii U and a harddrive for Xenoblade X and find the price for the LE acceptable. The game comes out around my birthday so I'm just turning it into a present for me.
I don't understand the complaint tbh, you want the game so you pre-order it and you then pay for it when it's sent to you ...
I'd kinda assumed that everyone had heard the general arguments against it at this point.
Here's a primer from 2 of the biggest commentators in the industry. Not all of the arguments apply to every example. But some apply to all of them, including this.
I tend to agree with pre-orders being BS (literally the last game I pre-ordered was the previous Xenoblade), but I can kinda understand it for Xenoblade Chronicles X because:
1. It's been out in Japan for months now
2. Nintendo and retailers carrying Wii U games both have a history of stocking less games (or non-games w/ Amiibo) than make sense, even considering Wii U's smaller fanbase.
combined w/
3. The downloadable version will take up a lot of space

Right, this game is definitely on the lower end of the scale of badness when it comes to preordering. Although the idea that this will be sold out at launch everywhere is almost definitely wrong.
And whilst I don't think you can really escape the logic that preordering inevitably creates an anti-consumer incentive structure, I do agree that it applies to Nintendo to a much smaller degree than other companies, mostly because they counteract the force of that by being incredibly principled about quality and honesty. Beyond that, the only other worry is that you're helping contribute to a preorder arms race between competing companies, so that even if it doesn't end up ruining Nintendo, it might well ruin other companies as they try to compete with Nintendo. I think most people would point to the recent Deus Ex "Augment your Gullibility" program as an example of how these things escalate if you don't keep them in check.
The only reason I pre-order games is so they get dispatched on time and arrive on launch day. That being said, I only pre-order games a few days before launch, I see no reason to pre-order something months before release.
Pre-ordering is perfectly fine as long as you're smart about what you preorder. Nintendo games are almost always a safe bet. So are games localized by companies like Xseed that have already been released in Japan and had their bugs ironed out. It's Western AAA games that you really want to stay away from preordering. Particularly Ubisoft.
Got $10 off Mario Maker recently because I preordered it. Don't regret my decision one bit.

Those doesn't really apply to Nintendo.
I always pre-order Nintendo games. There are never technical issues at launch and they have a habit of running out of stock quick. And Amazon sometimes lowers the price before release so you may get a nice discount. (Like I did with Xenoblade X)
Sadly there's no digital early shipment. I love playing games a day or two early because of sloppy retailers. Perhaps nintendo's new loyalty program will allow something like this to happen
But it saves the preorder hassle. I remember preordering the monster hunter tri treasure box with controller and lagiacrus in it and getting all excited to find it in the mail two days early. Others were not so lucky and missed out completely.
Preordering is, I think, a case by case thing to anticipate. I'm digital only so the days of finite stock and missing out are largely over for me. But aren't most retailers kind of obliged to reimburse any overpaid amount?

Almost no games run out of stock quickly nowadays. There are hardly any 3DS or Wii U games that you just can't actually find right now. The only one I can think of is Cave Story 3D. Before that, the last one that had problems was Xenoblade on Wii.
And some of the arguments in those videos apply to ALL preorders. The idea that you're voluntarily biasing yourself by creating a stronger sense of expectation and entitlement applies to all preorders.
Obviously there are some games, like this one, where you feel like you already have enough information to be maybe 90% sure of the quality apriori. But this is very much the minority!
