Not sure where you are located but here in the states it's gone down a bit. I have seen it around own for 40 dollars brand new, and of course even cheaper used.

Idk where u are located but in the UK it's one of the cheapest retails i can think of, last i checked it on Amazon it was £16. And the special edition which includes both the games took a bit rise in price to £40 which again is still a great price but it was about £35 few weeks ago.

@faint: I have seen it at local game stores the past few weeks at that price, also a few weeks ago it was on sale at Target for 40 as well. It might be a bit hard to find now as stores restock because of the holidays.

Besides you can't go by Amazon that's just some idiot who's decided to be an *** and overcharge people. He probably thinks the game is going to be in high demand because of Bayonetta being added to Smash.

@Chandlero: the USA has more wiiu users so when a surge happens for an old title we tend to run out first. After that the scalpers take advantage. Same thing happened with ocarina of time 3d. When majoras mask was announced it had a huge surge. When stock was depleted scalpers had it on sale for close to 90 bucks for about a month or two. Now you can find it at any best buy for regular price.

I thought OOT sold out long before MM was announced, I saw many complaints about it from new 3ds owners in various threads.

@andreoni79: Only the limited edition was physical, so the physical version going to be printed in low quantity regardless.

@Octane: Ok. However:
1. Did they print enough copies of the Limited Edition? No, because it was impossible to find them at their estimated price even at launch.
2. Did they print a cheaper non-limited edition of the game to extend the market of the IP? Obviously they didn't.
3. Was I ready to spend € 60 for the Limited Edition? Yes, but since no retailer had one, a week later I bought Fallout 4.

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

^why didn't you just download it? It was cheaper than the rrp of the physical version anyway.

@andreoni79: I'm not Nintendo, and I'm not going to say that what they did was the right thing, but we knew all along that only the limited edition was going to be physical, so on top of being limited in the first place, you could count on it that they would sell out very quickly, because it was the only physical version available. On the other hand, it's a very niche game and advertising the game would've probably been a waste of money, since it's a game that's not going to sell a million copies regardless of whether they advertise it or not.

@Tasuki: the reason why you see a price like that is Amazon. Sold out and they don't know when they will have more. This is due to stock shortage. I would assume that Christmas sales are part of the shortage. The smash even was shown not to long before so it probably ended up on many lists. Typically when Amazon is about to sell out they have and estimated date when they will receive more. When they don't people raise their prices.

@arronishere: last time I checked the eShop the game was € 50. And it would take half of the hard drive. The fact is, Nintendo showed in these last years that they know well hot to NOT sell games. They act like Sony and MS don't exist and gamers like me, who always had another home console next to the Nintendo one, would like to be able to buy at least Nintendo exclusives. In Italy Bayonetta is still available for cheap but at the same time Lego City is still full price, if you are lucky to find a copy. If asking to buy a 3 years old game on disc for a decent price is utopistic, than I'm screwed.
@octane: I'm not Nintendo too and I'm not a business man, but I'm a customer. The Wii U is almost dead and we still don't have a Nintendo Selects collection. Games like Pikmin 3, MH3U, Lego City and The Wonderful 101 may still sell if they print them and put them on shelves for € 25, giving parents and casuals a chance to buy games for a reasonable price. They surely have a reason if they don't do this, but there's also a reason if new gamers prefer to buy a PS4 instead of a Wii U.

@andreoni79: I understand your point, and I don't necessarily disagree with everything. I wouldn't write a Nintendo Selects series off, Nintendo Selects titles weren't available until the Wii's fifth year either, they appear pretty late in the console's lifespan. Now, I do wonder if there's a reason for Nintendo Selects, if the game is difficult to find, you can always get a digital copy. If they're going to print more of, let's say Pikmin 3, they probably want to print a big batch as that's a lot cheaper. However, I wonder if they are even able to sell another 200,000 copies for example. I'm sure there are people who are still looking for a physical copy of Pikmin 3, but I doubt those people are enough to warrant another reprint of the game.

@faint: Yeah people raise the prices, cause they are hoping to cash in on people's desperation. Bayonetta 2 is not a limited print game like Devils Third or whatever its called, it's more then likely the huge surge of Wii U purchases for the holidays, and Bayonetta 2 is one of the best games out for the Wii U. Besides who's knows if some of those that got a Wii U were PS3/Xbox 360 owners who are fans of the first one so naturally would get 2 since its an exclusive. The Op and just needs to wait for stores to restock which is normal for this time of the year. Once the stores restock, the scalpers will go away or find something else to scalp.

Haha sorry for making it clear to everyone that there was a particualr shortage of Bayonetta 2 in the USA. Yeah guys, I just find it so strange that a game like Bayonetta 2 would just be super expensive here when I can see it's not a problem in other countries. I'm not picky about physical vs digital so I was fine with downloading it on the eShop (I really just wanted Bayonetta 2 initially and then just get the 1st one some other time). I just find it really weird. For all I knew it was only Pikmin 3 that had just a giant increase in price and shortage almost everywhere in the world.

Mario pls

Fighting games like Smash and Bayonetta are much more popular in the U.S. than in Europe. Pikmin has a more similar popularity around the globe.
