This game is gonna fit right in with my other games on the HDD... Are you guys gonna buy the new Zelda U on the eShop, or disc? I wouldn't be surprised if the new Zelda U gets up into or above the 20 GB range.

Oh. My. Hylia. I literally screamed and started freaking out when I saw this. I never had the system to play WW so now getting to play it in HD will be the experience of a lifetime. I'm so glad I'll finally get top play this game since I've only seen a let's play of it and it's in my Top 5 Zelda games. I don't even care what it's priced. (Maybe Majora's Mask next please?)

Surprise Surprise! Wasn't expecting this!

I never beat the original on the Gamecube. I guess I'll get this version and go through it and then call it done.

I don't mean to complain, because this is super exciting we're actually getting a remake of this, but I can't help but feel the screens of what we've seen so far look WAY over saturated and bright for my taste. Maybe I just need to adjust, but I don't know.

I think it looks ugly now, the gamecube's graphical limitations actually did good in my eyes.

With the systems being pretty cheap thanks to aging, you should really give the older handheld games a chance. It's even easier to do so for them since you can take them with you. Since you can play the DS games on a 3DS, all you'd need is a GBA (preferably SP) for the GBC titles and Minish Cap. What did you think of Link's Awakening?

I actually have a GBA SP for playing my old Gameboy games on and both an original DS and a DS lite to play GBA games on so I am set. Its just having the cash to buy these games that I missed.

As for Link's Awakening it ranks up there with my other favorite Zeldas like ALttP and OoT.

while i'm pretty ecstatic about Wind Waker's HD remake, and I'll admit this might be the straw that broke the camels back and make me give in to buying a Wii U, please consider that they stated they decided to do it for three reasons:
1. Get the Wind Waker to a larger install base (gc didn't sell so many consoles...)
2. Satisfy Zelda fans while we wait for this new Zelda
3. While testing out what past engine upgrades could look like to help decide on the art direction of the new Zelda, they tested Wind Waker with an upgrade and liked it. They are using it to "show off what the Wii U can do"

Ok....now while I agree the Wind Waker HD looks a lot more than just a simple resolution upgrade and I'm stoked for it's tweaked gameplay and overhaul and what that might mean...can everyone please look at this picture, it's from the "Zelda HD Experience".

Now, it is known that this experience was crafted on the Twilight Princess engine with upgrades thanks to the Wii U, to show off the Wii U's power at that E3.

Ehm.
If they can make Twilight Princess's environments, enemies, and characters look like THAT then WHY would Nintendo choose to do the Wind Waker instead???
Can you imagine if we got Twilight Princess - the entire game - looking like the Zelda HD experience?????? Remember - the demo was NOT pre-rendered! It was real time using the upgraded TP engine!!
Perhaps Nintendo chose to not go the realistic route with the new unknown Zelda game, and therefore didn't want the remake filler title to outshine the new Zelda graphically with a realistic style.
Or perhaps the new Zelda IS going the realistic route so they wanted to give us something completely different in the meantime, as to make our jaws drop when we see the new game.
Just in terms of graphics only and with the goal of showing off what Nintendo themselves can do with the Wii U, I just think a TP remake using the Zelda HD experience's upgraded engine would've been such a smarter move. Granted, I know the graphics weren't the ONLY reason to remake WW, maybe it was a much easier game to remake & get out quicker, or maybe they were really insistent on more people experiencing it, or perhaps it has something to do with in some way not detracting from the shine & lure of the new Zelda game's graphics. Maybe it's because TP was already on two systems. Maybe it's because Nintendo feels WW is a better game... I don't know, but I just thought I'd put this thought out there.
What do you all think?
Nintendo said on the Direct that they were experimenting with past Zelda games and giving them upgrades to help choose an art style for the new Zelda. I imagine they toyed with WW, TP, Skyward Sword, and possibly even older games such as OoT or Majora's Mask (less likely)
What do you all think on Nintendo's choice to remake WW out of all the possible candidates?
In terms of just choosing a game, forgetting what I said earlier about graphics, I'm very happy with their choice to remake Wind Waker btw.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I would've loved to see a Wii U remake of Majora's Mask using the upgraded TP engine from the Zelda HD demo. They share enough stylistic similarities that I believe the engine could've been tweaked to retain the art style of the original MM, and it would've been a much more major upgrade from the original than OoT compared to OoT 3D.

Granted, a project like that would not have been easy or quick by any means, given the age of the game and the prospect of using an entirely different engine than the one it was originally made with, it is to my understanding that they would have to completely remake the game from scratch. OoT 3D didn't completely use a new engine - they worked within the original to upgrade textures/animations/etc to my understanding. And honestly, while OoT 3D does look a lot better than the original, it's still clearly so similar to the original, it really didn't do anything crazy. Child Link and Link from Super Smash Bros Melee look better than the Links from OoT 3D, in my opinion. Again...different engine entirely, and made from scratch.
So anyway, I would've loved to see a Majora's remake - complete remake using the TP upgraded engine. It wouldn't exactly be a quick fix to feed Zelda fans hunger waiting for the new game though, it would be a major project. So one can dream...

I don't really see the need for Wind Waker to have a HD remake.

It still looks great on a Gamecube.

Well, pretty much every other main entry to the series has been made available in the last software generation. Majora's Mask would've been beautiful and I'd prefer it, but it was more of a side game as it doesn't connect to Hyrule in any way. Ocarina of Time was already remade in 3D too recently, and Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess both came out on the Wii. Heck, you can play almost every console Zelda game on the Wii U already through Wii mode, with the exception of Gamecube titles.

Yeah! Let's encourage Nintendo not making any new Zelda games by keep on releasing old ones!

I wonder what they'll do with the tingle tuner. Maybe something with the gamepad and a separate controller?

Fantastic comment. I can't wait to finally be able to use it.

I haven't thought about it until now myself
