Since the Nintendo Entertainment System I have saved up and purchased every console on the market, including that beloved Dreamcast, until 2002. I did not buy an Xbox. During this generation I bought a PS2 and a Gamecube. Next gen I bought a PS3 and a Wii. But the Xbox had zero appeal for me. The first generation I was turned off by the massive controller (not a fair reason...but I also didn't have the money at the time). And I have no idea why the second generation of xbox was so wildly successful. The Xbox 360 was a terrible product to invest in from a consumer point of view. Everyone I knew who had a 360 (seriously, everyone) got the red ring of death and many were shafted by Microsoft and had to pay for a new Xbox out of pocket. So the bottom line is, I will bot buy an Xbox with a fox, I will not buy an Xbox in a box, I could not on a boat and I should not will not in a boat. I will not buy an Xbox, I'm not a fan, please leave me alone Sam I Am.
I'm going where the interesting exclusives go, and Microsoft's track record is a scarce one when it comes to that.
I'll always most likely get the new shiny Nintendo consoles, but It's just a matter of which company can prove they are best for me on the Sony/Microsoft side. It's part of the reason why it took me so long to decide weather to get a PS3 or XB360,

I'm thinking my next console purchase will be a PS3. Unless info on the WiiU really blows me away, I will probably hold off on getting one for awhile.
Are you actually doubting that the Wii U will be more powerful than the PS3? it will definitely be more powerful.
He never said that. And even though the Wii U will be more powerful it won't be noticeable with launch titles. look at the 360 and PS3 launches. The games looked good , but not any noticeable difference between them and the last-gen systems. It took over a year for games to start coming out that had any noticeable difference (Gears of war, Metal Gear Solid 4).
Not only that but the Wii U is going to have launch games by Nintendo a company with no experience in HD experience while being compared too Halo 4 and The Last of Us.
True but Nintendo will produce some amazing games for Wii U because they will not only be HD, they will also be fun to play. The Wii U should satisfy people that only care about graphics and at the same time satisfy people that actually care about how fun games are to play. A lot of the HD developers today may be experienced on the graphics side but few actually produce games with the gameplay quality as well as Nintendo games. Over the next couple of years the graphic snobs can no longer make the comments about the Wii U hardware like they have about the Wii... I wonder what their new excuse will be?
And as far as Halo goes... it can never compare to Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc...

But your saying it like HD games today aren't fun to play. And I could find a couple of reasons to still rag on nintendo just by looking at where the 3DS is going.
-No Cloud Storage -No Messaging System -No sales on their online store
Could site graphics again depending on the the Power and Ram jump of the 720/PS4 compared to the Wii U.
Not hard to find stuff to bitch about.
And Isn't Halo not comapring mostly a personal thing. I mean aside from Metroid, Halo is very different than Zelda and Mario. Even when comparing it too metroid, Halo is far more narrative Focused and Unparalleled in the Muti-player space.

I think that the Wii U will b better than Xbox 720 cuz the Wii U is not going to be expensive and we don't need to pay to play online like the Xbox 720
What will you do if Sony decides to charge for onlin play. (they would idiots not too)
So do you think Nintendo will charge to play online?
Nintendo Probably not and can't afford till they show something good. Sony on the other Hand has to be looking at all the money Microsoft has made off of live. I mean P+ is great, but having it mandatory would be a whole another level of money.
But i'm on the Band wagon that Microsoft needs to revamp the Live pay tiers closer too sony.
Xbox Silver-free- Free Mutiplayer Xbox Gold-$60 a year- Weekly sales, and Acess to apps like Netflix/ESPN/Crackle Xbox Diamond-$100 a year All of the above but also including a Zune Pass Subscription and 1 xbox TV show sub.

I would get a PS4 before an Xbox 720 since I hate paying more money to play games online and not having worthwhile retail exclusives.

I'll get a cheap PS3 and buy lots of awesome games without being poor (which to be honest, I should have done this gen with PS2 because there are so many Ps1/2 games I want). Or a Wii U. Which I'll probably get unless we get another terrible launch (Vita vs. 3DS has kinda proven how much launch titles don't matter anymore, so this is unfortunately a possibility)
I think that should have been the name of Sony's first handheld, I would have bought it based on the name alone! Playstation Half.
Nintendo will have no problem producing HD quality games as there is very little skill to producing the graphics.. it's the control systems, environments and the mechanics of a game which are hard to get right - and that's what Nintendo specialise in. Graphics just take processor muscle and the latest developer tools which is why I'll never be impressed by a game that looks like a king but plays like a dog (see Prince of Persia, anyone later than the ZX Spectrum).
Plus, as a man that's just hit his thirties, I'm finding it hard to tell the difference between high definition & GOOD standard definition... and don't really care to pay the extra coin for the invisible "edge". I think I heard some statistic that without major laser eye surgeory, most men over the age of forty literaly could not see any difference from HD TVs (but much like 50fps & 60fps, convince themselves they can). Of course on this point I may be very wrong. But meh.

lol. There is far more of it than that.
If that were the case Development periods wouldn't have taken longer to create games and Development costs wouldn't have skyrocketed.

I was born a nintendo fan with my older brothers playing n64 all the time. so i garantee i will be pre ordering a wii u. i own an xbox 360 and there are like 5 games i like for it. and since wii u will be getting a lot of third party support, i will be able to play nintendo exclusives and all the games my friends talk about.
Oh sure I simplified it but that's the kernal of truth - when you get to see a lot of the bigger studios put games together (I'm one of the poor saps that actually watched the THREE HOUR "making of God of War III" film that came on the disk... I didn't actually PLAY THE GAME for that many hours ), a lot of the time goes into small details, motion capturing, rendering and the added complexities (making 100 people walk around a street instead of 10 motionless sprites etc). It comes down to how much staff you can afford to pay, not the necessarily the talent (as long as you have a good director onboard).
Why do you think it takes so long between each COD? Those troop skins and battle fields take a long time, then you have to change the number on the box!
To be completely truthful, unless Wii U offers an open online system that is comparable to the PS3/360, or better yet, on par with the amazing online integration featured on PS Vita, with it's extremely flexible and fast interfaces; then I have little interest in the Wii U at or near launch. As much as I adore Nintendo and normally there at launch for their systems, I'm just not sold on the design of the Wii U.
