I really don't think its sales could get any worse so yes I think it will pick up especially with xmas and all, as for whether it will be enough to turn the console around I'm guessing no.
Yeah, if it does not pick up with all these games coming I can't see it being more than a niche system throughout the whole generation (unless Nintendo manages to create something like WiiFit all over again).
I would give it longer than this holiday season though. The biggest system seller is looking to be Mario Kart 8, so if it hasn't started selling a lot before MK8 is released and doesn't when it's released either.. I doubt it ever will.
Not sure. I'm personally waiting till Mario Kart 8 for the pick up myself. Right now i'm in between on it charting a course of failure and picking up to do Gamecube type numbers.

Possibly. It's not guaranteed, but I suspect at least Mario 3D World, Sonic Lost World and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze might cause sales to at least increase by about five million or so units. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros 4 next year will probably cause the bulk of the console's sales though.
As for how it does compared to competition... probably well. After all, Sony and Microsoft's systems are going up against their predecessors with zero backwads compatibility, a more limited line up of games and a fairly high price. The question in my opinion isn't so much 'whether the Wii U takes off' as much as 'does any system take off?'
I can't tell how well Wii U will do. I lent my Precognitive Oracle Ostrich-Powered Spectacles to a friend.
I foresee what you'll do there.

I think so I mean it's the holidays. You know the time when people are so worried about tradition that they spend more than they have just to make sure their kids get what they want so they don't feel like horrible parents because they weren't able to buy their children's love with material things. Also games like Mario and the other games that I don't really care for are coming out. While sales might pick up I still think they won't go as high as Nintendo expects them to, due to the fact that PS4 and XBOX One are coming out and the majority of gamers (not the hardcore Nintendo gamers of course) usually get Nintendo as a secondary console if they do get one at all and also most people can't afford 2 consoles.

Depends on what you mean by taking off. If you mean get better, then yes, it will get better (if only because it's doing terribly right now). If you mean better than Sony and Microsoft's upcoming systems, maybe, if only because of limited supply (especially from Sony, who keep running out of preorders for the PS4). If you mean it as doing as well as Nintendo wants it to do (which is 9 million more units by the end of the fiscal year) then I doubt it. Even with sublime advertising, I really doubt it will be able to sell 9 million units from now to the beginning of spring. Nintendo's current system lineup isn't going to speak to people beyond Nintendo fans. With big games like Battlefield 4, FIFA 14 and many other multiplatform games not hitting the Wii U, the situation isn't looking good for it.

Yeah, I pretty much just wondered if the Wii U could fly
The thing that has got me trapped buying a Wii U is I got a little girl I want to get in to Mario but I also LOVE the Zelda games. I've got some disposable cash coming in September just in time for Zelda Wind Waker
I doubt WiiU will ever "take off" like it did on Wii. And I don't expect any huge sales numbers until next year. Preferably with the help of a price cut.
Take off.. hmm.. Wii Numbers I doubt it.. then again I doubt if whatever the PS3 and 360 do at the end of their lives that the XBOX One and PS4 will do those.. it is important to note.. that the PS2 hit a price point that was perfect (Around 100.00- 150.00) After so many years.. everyone is bundling these systems and still selling them at 230-250.00.. that is the reason PS3 is not selling a 155 million plus.. that the PS2 did.. by all rights and purposes iof you sold a PS3 at the price it should be going after all this time.. it should be going for 150.00 max.. A lot of people are going to abandon the console games because of that alone.. so Wii U will never take off.. but.. can it be the number one system of this generation.. the answer is yes.. as long as Nintendo supports it.. and does not dump it.. you could be looking at the Wii of this generation.. maybe not so much in total sells compared to Wii.. but so much in it catches fire and takes off.. and proceeds to outsell the others.. whatever their numbers maybe;...
