I was so excited to play FIFA 13 on Wii U. The graphics were great, and I thought we were finally going to start getting something on par with the other consoles. But I must have jinxed it, because obviously there was no more FIFA.
I think that's so unfair, because FIFA is one of my most favorite franchises ever. Another installment on Wii U is looking less and less likely, and NX is on the horizon, but we know so little about it right now. I just wish EA came to their senses and bring ALL sports games back to Wii U, but the one I really care the most about is FIFA.
FIFA 13 on Wii U was already a legacy release. The gamplay of an older FIFA (12 in this case), with mostly just updated rosters for the new season. There's no point in bringing FIFA back to Wii U. The only real new FIFA's are released on PS4, X1 and PC. The Wii U has a very different architecture than those machines and is severely underpowered. It would cost too much to make for a sub-10 million sales console. And do you really want FIFA 16 when it's just FIFA 12 with updated rosters?
FIFA 13 Wii U was fantastic and is my most played (135 hrs) Wii U game currently (despite not having played it for about a year).
I don't remember the details but I think the relationship between the two companies soured. Presumably Nintendo weren't prepared to subsidise the porting process. Without any similar franchises to fall back on I think it is an issue Nintendo should address. Open its pocket and repair the relationship.
I wonder how much EA spend on the licensing exclusivity for the main sport franchises. Would be nice to see someone else have the right to use all the names and kits too.
I personally am not too bothered about another FIFA anytime soon, as I have FIFA 13 still. But it would be nice to pick up an ice hockey game and maybe try some Madden using the gamepad - Madden was released on the Wii U in the US but not in PAL territories, am I right?
PES > FIFA
especially when it comes to releases on nintendo systems.
sadly konami isnt eager to release a new PES on WiiU or 3DS. the older ones for 3DS are really good though. and the PES games on Wii are the best football simulations i have ever played. the playmaker controls are just superb
It doesn't seem likely, but I think I would like to see a new one. I don't really play FIFA, but I had played the demo with my sister and brother-in law a few times and enjoyed it a lot. If I could find it for a good price at a store or if the game ever went on sale on the eShop I'd definitely get it, but since EA abandoned the Wii U it seems that they never have price drops/sales.

Maybe in 6th gen but Fifa has been better than PES for a long time now.
Pro Evo is a lot better than FIFA and I am desperate to see Konami bring one to the Wii U. Mario Strikers is a lot of fun as well I love sport games but I don't need annual releases I'd be happy if every Nintendo generation had an outstanding game for main sports football baseball american football basketball golf ice hockey and have the updated rosters and additional modes released every year as DLC for a small charge
