There's your problem. As for youtube, comments on there are pretty hit and miss. Sometimes, you'll see good commenters, other times there will be a lot of idiots in the comments section.

Why in the world would Nintendo stop capitalizing on its properties? From a business perspective its stupid, and from a fan-base perspective it's REALLY stupid. Not making games that people do want will cause people to not buy the system due to a lack of interest, thus making less money. Even if the properties don't sell gangbusters (F-Zero, Rythem Heaven, Fire Emblem, etc.) they'll still offer incentives for people to buy the system, which the WiiU will need due to the many doubts the people have in it. I'm surprised anyone would think this way; if anything, the WiiU would force Nintendo to put more of its franchises onto it, due to a more hardcore focus, especially near launch.

Best thread ever

The fact that mostly third-party games are announced does not necessarily mean that Nintendo will get rid of it's first-party franchises. It's just that Nintendo cannot do EVERYTHING when it comes to publishing games. Nintendo will not be Nintendo if it starts doing that.

well im reading a topic of someone retearded thats all i have to say, listen buddy, why would nintendo throw away franchises that made nintendo so popular and keeps nintendo alive, you do realize how hard it would be to make another original franchise or make a clone and expect people to like it to avoid comments like "how lame is this sh!t,its basicaly zelda but without zelda"na you dont see any trailers is because 1).its expected to come anytime so give it some time since the console isnt even released 2).not much progress made to make a trailer etc.get your facts straight

sorry james :(

ps:but i can see star fox,f-zero being avoided but hey,you never know

The day when most people get active is the day zombies roam...but there should be a thousand ways to kill them to make life more easy, but if you become one...expect a serious case of the munchies.

Ok

1) Calm down

2) Who are these "most people?" I've never heard of ANYONE mention ANYTHING like this until you brought it up. If it was from YouTube, then you know that it's not a reputable source. If it was from IGN, then they better have a damn good reason on why they think so because their credibility will be shot to hell.

3) Believe us when we say it's NEVER going to happen. I understand that you are echoing on what some people are saying but you need to check your sources before you "retweet" them. Your credibility on disseminating information, even if you yourself never said it, is going to be trashed if it turns out the information you gave was bogus.

You know what's worse than this topic, though? The misuse of the term "retarded." I don't think you actually know what the definition is, but if you think you do, shoot for it.

On topic, everyone has been completely correct. I've never heard someone say that they're going to remove franchises... In fact, I've heard tons of speculation about them bringing old franchises back. And really, it's reasonable speculation. They've been reviving a lot of things lately.

Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.

Besides Kid Icarus, what else in the past two years have they revived?

If you count the last 3 years then Punch out, Sin and Punishment, and Donkey Kong country. So, not much.

Even so, Donkey Kong is everywhere unlike Punch Out!!

Now that I think about it, both seem to have their good and bad sides. I don't go on IGN much and I don't seem to get into the bad side of youtube (comments wise) often but thinking back to the times that I have maybe you are right.

This still makes no sense. Why would anyone think Nintendo would get rid of its franchises? Not a smart move, or idea...

Guys you have to remember: this guy got his info from YouTube and IGN right? Well, people on those sites somehow forget that Nintendo is a group of collective intelligences, and they seem to think that Nintendo is just this one unintelligent blob.
No wonder the poor lad's confused.

He's on to something. He probably heard, just like I did, that the first game released on Wii U would be called "The Death of Mario" and in it you play as Gunpei Yokoi. It's a blending of genres, including puzzle-platforming and third person shooting, and each stage features a boss fight against a notable Nintendo icon. The icons increase in magnitude as you progress through the game. This has led to speculation that the first levels would pit Gunpei Yokoi against the likes of Lakitu and both Ice Climbers, and maybe even the old dude from Pushmo. You can imagine that the last few levels feature characters like Kirby and Link. The Final Stage is obviously Mario.

The game will be completely canon in the Nintendo Universe so after this game none of these characters will ever be used again. I think it's a brilliant strategy to stop using incredibly popular and hugely profitable franchises. Makes a ton of sense.

In related news, EA has decided to stop making Madden games. You know, just for the heck of it.
