If the new My Nintendo will be seamlessly connecting all your Nintendo devices, doesn't that mean the Wii U would need a huge overhaul and basically change the entire operating system? If they are going to add the rewards program, digital game cloud, points and a somewhat achievement system, shouldnt this effect the entire look? I havent heard anything about it coming to Wii U but it is in their roadmap. Is anybody else waiting on confirmation of this to come out before you play any Wii U games so you can get rewards points or achievements towards the new My Nintendo?
When it was first announced that Club nintendo was getting replaced, I allowed myself to imagine such things, but since then Nintendo has done so little to inspire any confidence that I really would be surprised if the Wii U gets much of an update. Of course, should NX genuinely be a 3rd pillar, it would still seem reasonable to expect an update to Wii UOS, but as I say, I'll be surprised.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I don't know how much of an update will be required for My Nintendo. Your Nintendo Network is already linked to your Nintendo Account which is already linked to your My Nintendo. There may not be a need for a drastic update.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

As neat as that'd be, I don't expect it at all. I think Nintendo is just laying the groundwork for the NX's more streamlined account system with Nintendo Account and My Nintendo. Right now, they work alongside your Nintendo Network ID, but I think the NNID will go away with the Wii U and 3DS.
I'm stoked that they're working on the foundations ahead of time, though. Ninty is often caught with its pants down on this sort of thing.
I doubt it. I think the Wii U's OS is already where they want it to be, and all of those upgrades you mention will probably be reserved for new systems. Though it would be a good explanation for all of these network maintenances, but so would anything, really.
I have two Wii Us now, so I am hoping against hope that the new account system does get integrated with Wii U and allows me to share my save files and digital purchases across my two systems.

Save Files would most likely be Cloud Storage and that probably won't be a thing for Nintendo for a while. Digital Purchases would be more likely. But I still think that will be unlikely with the Nintendo Account launch.
