It also has voice control that lets you control the Xbox Dashboard. I can say Xbox "launch Halo Reach" and it will start the game. Or xbox search Mass effect and get a list of trailers,DLC and soundtrack.

Does the new Xbox 360 Slim have the same disc-scratching problem that the original models had? Cause that's one of the reasons why I won't get an Xbox 360 again (that and the Red Ring of Death issue).

no...I have the old elite and have never had a problem.

No one's really playing catch-up, I think it's more about the creators plans for the console. For example, Nintendo were trying to aim for a wider range of gamers with the Wii. Yes it has low-tech, it doesn't have HD graphics, it's online is sucky... but yet it still appeals to a wide range of people.

Microsoft and Sony, to me, are more in for the power and I don't blame them. After all, they can afford to push a lot of money into the bigger and chunkier pieces of hardware.

I think it's more about which do you prefer? Nintendo is constantly innovating, Sony is constantly ripping-off and Microsoft is a money making tycoon.

I'm pretty sure the disc thing only happened when people moved the system while a disc was spinning. Why you would do that is beyond me.

Game Informer is kinda known for their distaste with Nintendo.

Also, Nintendo could easily catch-up with the other two in terms of their power, but they choose not to. It's not that they're trying to be as powerful as the other two, it's that they're trying to be more innovative. Which they do incredibly well. Pretty much what everyone else has said, but it should be repeated because there are many people who refuse to realize this.

You do realize that the Wii U is a bit more powerful than the PS3, which is Nintendo finally conceding to the demands of 3rd-party developers and catching up to the PS3 and 360. Iwata even admitted that the Wii U is being targeted specifically to "core" gamers who prefer high-resolution graphics and traditional controls. The Wii U controller is basically a DualShock controller with a screen in the middle, kind of like a handheld.

Um, it's nothing like the Dualshock. Where are you going with this? Also, the "core" gamer also includes gamers who don't care about power alone, like me

Let's see...
Dual analog pads? Check.
4 shoulder buttons? Check.
4 face buttons (A, B, X, Y = Triangle, Square, Circle, X)? Check.
D-pad? Check.

The only difference between the Wii U controller and a DualShock is the addition of a screen, microphone, and speakers. It's like a handheld and DualShock put together.

The button Placment isn't even the same. The Wii U doesn't even have analogs.

Now if you said the clasic controller I would agree but the Wii U controller has nothing in common with the Dualshock expect things that unavoidable..

Would you save the first PS1 controller is a rip off of the Super nintendo one.

Yes. And many people would agree. The original PS1 controller added 2 extra shoulder buttons and hand grips. Other than that they are exactly the same.

And the Classic Controller Pro looks exactly like a DualShock, the button placement is exactly the same.

See I find this argument stupid. It reminds of the Euro Patent Law suits over Tablet design. When making a controller you honestly only have a few options for something that functional.

Prime example are the Xbox/360/Gamecube controllers that are all variations on the same design.

and you can't copy button layout. The copy has to come from the design of the device themselves. Honestly its one of the reasons why i wondered nintendo never took sony to court on patent infringement.

I'm positive that Microsoft and Sony will jump ahead as soon as they release their next consoles. Hopefully that will be later in the life of the Wii U, that way third party developers have plenty of time to eagerly support Nintendo and we have plenty of third party games.

I don't know what the hell button placement has to do with a controller copying another controller. It's traditional and normal for the A, B, Y, etc. buttons to be on the right side of the controller. It would feel weird if they were on the left side and the analog/control pad was on the right side. Except for special controllers like the Wiimote and Wii U tablet, that's how it's always been.

I think the topic is supposed to be called 'Will Other Companies Always Play Catch-Up To Nintendo?'

Because, frankly, that's how it's always been.

While Nintendo didn't INVENT many of these things, they were the first to successfully implement them into videogames. Now, ask yourself, how many of these ideas are now incorporated by Microsoft and Sony?

I'm sure if I cared, I could point out many flaws with this but this is a dumb idea for a topic anyway.

That's exactly right. This entire post pretty much fits with my stance on other companies utilising Nintendo's ideas.

You had me until here. Since when is open world gaming innovative? Zelda is an adventure game and Animal Crossing is a simulation game. They don't innovate anything significant whatsoever.

Super FX Chip? Dang that new Frostbite engine Dice Studios came out with sure is innovative.

Miis and 'Self Improvement' titles like Brain Age, and Wii Fit? Shut up. And last but not least, Bite Sized games ... So making even shorter minigames and releasing a bunch of them in a collection for $50 is innovative? WOWEE!

Just for you.
