You can tell he likes first person stuff. Just look at how heavily he directed Metroid Prime, or how he originally wanted OoT to be in first person entirely.
Maybe he'll get his chance, I don't know. Everything he's made has been amazing, and I like first person shooters, so at the very least I'd like to see it happen.
Best thread ever

I think he may get his chance sometime soon during the Wii U era. Because it seems often that when Miyamoto wants to make something, Nintendo automatically approve. Miyamoto said that Pikmin 3 & Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon only exist because he simply told Nintendo he wanted to, and they let him. Also Pokemon was rejected at first when it was introduced to Nintendo, but only made it in because Miyamoto disagreed and said he liked the idea of Pokemon. So maybe when he's done with Pikmin 3(because its entirely under his watch and wants it to be perfect) he will be able to do his FPS idea.
I'd really like to see a good Nintendo FPS to compete with the likes of Halo. I think Miyamoto could definitely pull it off. It almost seems necessary at this point considering the popularity of FPSs nowadays, and it's a big gap in the lineup to fill. Now, question is do they start a new franchise or convert an older one like Metroid or Star Fox?

i was going to suggest a super smash bro mix of characters going at it a different way but that might be a little more weirder though lol
a metriod could work but theres only so many characters using a gun of some sort, so it seems star fox would be the best bet
but it doesnt sound like Miyamoto would use any existing franchise and make a fps game out of it but i could be wrong and it would be fun somehow
I'd love to see what Miyamoto would make if he made an FPS. I'm sure it would be far more creative than most titles in the genre that we see these days.
The Wii U can give players an alternate perspective utilizing gameplay transitions; imagine a 3rd person game but viewable as 1st person on the gamepad!
That idea aside, Miyamoto might not make a FPS game anytime soon, since he's changing gears from creative consultant and focusing on smaller projects.

Maybe the fps will be a smaller thing
I was going to mention the that! If they could incorporate a fun style of gameplay and keep the game simple, it totally could be done!

Does there need to be a big lineup of characters for a FPS? Halo has mostly faceless Spartans, CoD has no-name soldiers, really the only FPS I can think of that did have actual characters was Metroid Hunters and it would have been just as well without them. Metroid could just have the GFA against the Space Pirates, and Star Fox could have the Cornerian Army vs the Venomian Army.

While I love Metroid and star fox, and I personally wouldn't mind a FPS with them, if nintendo wants to get more of the "hardcore" audience then I think he should come up with something completely new. Others that don't really care for nintendo or those games particularly would just shove them off as another sequel to the games, while if he came up with an entire new franchise people may want to try it out leading to maybe wanting other nintendo games and products.
Well, Miyamoto did recently mention something about establishing his development team to be less dependent on him and "focusing more on his own creations", so I think it's possible he's delving more into his potential concepts.
If he did ever make an FPS though, I'd like it to be an entirely new mature IP on Wii U. He shouldn't stick to the current confinements of the genre and aim to push boundaries with the concept - sort of like Nintendo having its own exclusive experience reminiscent of Bioshock or Half-Life. Or even Dishonored. Just creativity, pl0x.
Oh, and with breath-taking visuals and kick-@$$ multiplayer. I'm talking that hardcore 12-player challenge, brah.
