I really like having physical copies of games. They look nice on my bookshelf. So, when you could get Pikmin 3 24 hours earlier if you bought digital, I was unphased.
However, Wind Waker being available 15 days earlier is extremely tempting.
Does this marketing strategy work on you or will you wait it out? What if this became the norm for all Nintendo titles?
This strategy is really effective to me. I bought Pikmin 3 and I'll probably buy Windwaker digital also. It is a smart move for Nintendo, no middleman, more profit. I really like physical copies but the Wii U has managed to make me start to abandon that.

Very tempted to go all digital. I'll use the optical disc drive for my Wii games and use a hard drive for all my upcoming WiiU games. Plus, I trust Nintendo with transferring over all my downloaded stuff to the next console.
It definitely persuaded me. As a decade old game, it's essentially an enhanced virtual console title ala Ducktales. I dont feel like I'm missing anything not having the physical media because it's a "been there, done that" type of thing.
As a 1 game a month gamer, Nintendo has set me up perfectly:
SEP Zelda
OCT Sonic
NOV Mario
DEC DK
That's a solid, well-spaced line-up (altho a DEC Metroid wouldve been a 100000000x better, but I wont get started)
Lastly, they make more of a profit off of digital & Nintendo's in a tight spot right now. Let's help them out as much as I can so they can make more of the games we love!
Yes. I have a Toshiba Portable Canvio Basic USB 3.0 2TB hooked up with a y-cable. I won't run out of space unless I buy 100 games that take up 20GB each like Lego City. That's $5000 worth of video games, but I expect alot of games that break the 20GB mark eventually.

I was going to buy Pikmin 3 digitally anyway, the day early thing was just a bonus.
If they include more bonuses, promos, or discounts, I'm sure digital will look better.
Digital seems to be the most relevant format, IMO. I was buying digitally on PS3 and Xbox 360 if I could anyway. I just like having the full game on the system at all times without the disc.
You can bet I was switching between Gears of War 3, Halo Reach, Banjo Kazooie titles, Geometry Wars 2, etc. on a daily basis without going back to the Xbox Dashboard.
I paid premium for that s***, but it was worth it, IMO. It just makes it seem so much fancier. I had like 100GB worth of content on there on a 320GB Gears 3 system.
It seems like data didn't take up as much space on Xbox 360 though, but it really depends on the game.
No. That's where the indies go and I have some fun with still having boxes etc. I don't get inpatient for games either and the only one that might change that I know I'll preorder so...yeah...
No. One, I still prefer a physical copy, even if it means I'm running out of shelves and boxes to store them in. Two, I'm in no hurry to get new games to play (of Zeldas alone, I got Skyward Sword completely untouched and WW for GC with only a bit played - and that's ignoring the VC). Three, I'd expect that physical copies are more likely to have good discounts when brick-and-mortar stores have clearance sales or comparable as opposed to digital purchase venues - unless Nintendo does what Steam did and does, which I doubt. Not that I don't appreciate the 60% discounts they have now.
The only remotely good sale I can see with popular Nintendo games is a Black Friday sale. Otherwise you're waiting a long time

No, when I pay for something I want to own it. I don't pay license to play a game.
Yes, you do. You just prefer a storage media base copy protection system (which doesn't change the advantages it has over the console locked copy protection).
No. I prefer physical, and Nintendo's lack of an account system will keep me away from making large purchases on the eShop. Smaller games are fine, since they're only on there and not that big of a risk, but something like Pikmin 3 or any of the other bigger budget games.

I almost never buy games at launch. Unless its something I'm really excited for like Pokemon, a new 3D Zelda or Smash Bros, I wait for the price to go down before I buy. I have only bought one retail download in my whole life (Luigi's Mansion 2), and I do regret it.
That being said, I might get the Wind Waker Wii U bundle the day it comes out...
