Not a "Drag-and-Drop" port. A port that ups the graphics, but keeps the game intact the same way it was when it was on the 3DS/DS screen. Batman Arkham City is a port, but it has "better" graphics and new features. Same thing goes for Mass Effect 3 and the other Wii U ports.

Nobody is saying, or at least I'm not, that ports are always a bad thing. The problem is that it's hard to see what would be new and interesting about playing these (3)DS games people are talking about again on the Wii U.

The appeal of the SNES ports on GBA was the fact that we could play SNES games on a portable. The appeal of the N64 ports on the 3DS was the fact that we could revisit those worlds with better controls and stereoscopic 3D. The appeal of the New Play Control series were the new controls on the Wii. The appeal of the 360/PS3 ports on the Wii U is the fact that they're "HD gen" games on a Nintendo console and the touch controls might add something new.

When people in this thread say they want to see Kid Icarus Uprising on the Wii U I think..... why? What would be new about it? For improved visuals? When the same people go on to say they want to see DS games on a Wii U VC I wonder even more because then you wouldn't even get the improved visuals. Why would I want that? It doesn't make sense.

But wouldn't you love to see some great handheld titles on the big screen? It's like watching a movie at home. It's great, but never as great as when you saw it in theatres.

And I never said I wanted Kid Icarus Uprising on the Wii U. I said Kid Icarus U. I loved Uprising and I want a sequel that puts the game on the Wii U with a new story...perhaps what happened AFTER Kid Icarus Uprising or BEFORE the game took place.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I understand how you don't want ports. I agree with you on that. It sucks how a lot of major releases on the 3DS have been ports or remakes

Wasn't my point at all. I was saying that ports can be good when there is something new you can get out of it. The argument here is that (3)DS games should be ported to the Wii U because it would offer the same experience. I'm all for taking ideas that worked on (3)DS versions of these games to the Wii U (Mario Kart, Zelda) or bringing sequels to games created for the (3)DS to the Wii U (Layton). I'm not a fan of ports if the reason to do it is "it'll be the same"

If it's not the same game, it's not a port. The closest thing you described is a remake, and even that's a bit of a stretch, as some people don't consider games like Zero Mission as remakes. What you're basically describing is "sequels that use a new engine but the same gameplay" which is what most sequels are in the end.

I prefer watching a movies at home, for a lot of reasons, but thats another story, and isn't relevant to the topic.

Except there really wasn't anything that happened to Plautena or Pit inbetween Uprising and the first game, since, wouldn't they mention important stuff like (like, what you could base a game on.) that if it happened?
There was probably things happening to other characters, but then it wouldn't be a Kid Icarus game, since it wouldn't feature Pit.

I used to travel the stars, then I discovered Earth, and these incredibly addicting things called 'Video Games.'
And they said you couldn't buy happiness!

Heck in Uprising they completely ignore the game 'Of Myths and Monsters.' For whatever reason they decided to pretend that game just did not exist :s

Well the OP said "what would it be like to play DS games on Wii U? [...] Kid Icarus Uprising would fit extremely well" to which you and others simply replied by saying stuffs like "I can see the dual screen attracting either a mode where DS, DSi, adn 3DS games can be emulated [...] Personally, I'd love to see Kid Icarus U".........

and now I'm wrong for assuming that you were talking about a direct port/remake of Uprising?

OoT 3D was a remake as was Starfox 64. Some would call them enhanced remakes or even enhanced ports because it's the same game updated for a new system. The New Play Control games were definitely ports as was the Wii version of RE4 and the same is true of all of the "HD Gen" games coming to the Wii U near launch. What I'm saying is I don't want to see Wii U versions of (3)DS games....... which I'm happy to call ports.

If you want to now start saying that what this thread about is sequels to (3)DS games then that's fine. I haven't had a problem with that idea since this thread started infact I suggested that I wouldn't mind seeing a (new) Professor Layton game for the Wii U. I also wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising or them borrowing DS ideas for Wii U versions of popular games. What I don't want to see are ports or a space for DS games on the VC.

I would love if there was downloadable Ds and even Gameboy games on the Nintendo Wii U eshop. I can't see them bringing 3DS games to the Eshop for Wii U as people would just buy a Wii U and get best of both 3Ds and Wii U meaning 3DS sales will drop and Nintendo will not be happy.

But I don't see why they can't do it for Gameboy/DS games as they don't make Gameboy/DS console anymore.
