The Wii U is longer than the current Wii, but it's the same width.

Nintendo said it's still a prototype, but they said the same thing when the 3DS was first revealed.

3ds is ugly compared to the lite and dsi.
woah woah woah, if I may say. The 3DS is the sleekest system in the DS line up to date. The DSi and DSi XL are ridiculous looking, and the glossy finish on the 3DS is a lot more comfortable to hold than the matte of the DSi. Which by the way, its a much more improved gloss from the DS Lite. The 3DS doesn't get fingerprints, and the gloss is a nice reflective finish that makes the 3DS look classy and not cheap.

No way!My DSi would always get covered in little marks every time it gets slightly bumped against something, some permanent. The glossy finish on the 3DS is great for me.

look ho the nokia n9 or lumia 800 or 900.
uses a polycarbonate body with a matte overlay. due to the polycarbonate it cant get any straches and matte means no fingerprints.

The Aque Blue 3DS is gorgeous, the White DS Lite is gorgeous, and the Wii U design as is, is boring.Talk about playing it safe. C'mon Nintendo get funky and creative like you always do. Every console and controller was a departure design wise every generation. This looks like the Wii's step cousin, which isn't a bad thing at all....It's just not unique or suprising.
Hopefully the design isn't final...It just looks bland and incomplete. And that Wii U controller? Stick a Takooni tail on that bloody thing and then we'll talk.

It appears the Z Axis is also bigger
I like the current design of the WiiU though, my only concern is that people might confuse it for the Wii...

Hopefully the final Wii U system looks a bit snazzier.

To me the Wii U is basically a longer and curvier Wii. The GameCube was unique, the N64 was unique, the DS Lite was unique, the Wii was unique for it's time (even though it looked like a DVD player).
The 3DS and Wii U don't look too different from their predecessors, and this makes me think that Nintendo is playing it too safe. To be fair, the Game Boy Color had the same basic design as the original Game Boy, but at least Nintendo took things in a new direction with the GBA and GBA SP.
Come on Nintendo, be creative with your system designs again! Don't rest on your laurels. The 3DS and Wii U are what the DS and Wii should have been all along.

Um... from what we know, no one has used a tablet as a main controller for their console. Which is innovating and is thus new.
Just for you.

This type of controller was done in the 1980's. Remember the Game Boy? Same concept, a controller with a screen that could play games. That's all the Wii U controller is, just a big handheld.
And I was talking about Nintendo's system designs. The actual Wii U console looks too similar to the original Wii. It's not as unique looking as the PS3 and Xbox are to their predecessors.
