Hi, I have a wiiu console and about ten Wiiu games that were bought from a shop, not downloaded. My problem is I have splatoon and super Mario maker installed on my console but I haven't enough memory left to play a third game!!! Is this right!?!? I don't want to delete my progress with the other games but really want to play one if my other games!! ...any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks .

@ARAINBOW: Check your Wii U's internal memory, there you can see what is installed and what isn't; anything from games to save data. That might clear up some confusion.

You don't lose progress if you delete them from the storage, just don't delete the save data and you'll be fine. The easiest thing to do that has already been suggested is just get a bigger external hard drive, plug it in and you won't have to worry anymore.

@ARAINBOW: Just to make sure, you bought Splatoon and Mario Maker as digital downloads, right?

@Octane: hi, nope, they are both games bought new from high street shops, I have no downloaded games 😊

Ps: I think it's a bit pants that I can only play 2 games on my console (without deleting them to play a third game) and have to now get a hard drive to play my other games 😟...They don't tell u that in the shop!! 🙄🙊🙉🙈 #crafty lol

@ARAINBOW: If you haven't bought any digital games, I see no reason to buy a hard drive. I have ~25 games on my Wii U (all physical, no digital) and I have plenty of space left. I even downloaded a couple of games. So again, go to settings; data management and see what takes up all your space.

If you don't download retail games, there's no reason to buy a hard drive.

@Octane: If he has the white WiiU and Super Mario Maker and Splatoon as retail, the internal memory would be in fact occupied by the updates both games had to download.

I saw that problem a lot since Mario Kart and Smash Bros. updates need a lot of memory and the white WiiU has only 3 GB left for all downloadable things.

@Chandlero: Oh, right, those things exist as well. I don't know who at Nintendo thought a console with virtually no memory in the digital age would be a good idea...

I checked my Wii U's memory this morning to see how much I personally had left, and I don't believe either Mario Maker or Splatoon occupied more than 1 GB of data. My memory is foggy, and I don't know for sure anymore.

@Octane: Yes, I don't know how much Splatoon needs but Smash Bros. needs a lot (In fact 3.1 GB)! And often you have apps like Netflix, Amazon or other small things installed such that the 3GB is way too little, even without any download games.

Maybe I give a list:

-Smash Bros. (just updates): 3090 MB
-Mario Kart 8 (just updates): 2365 MB
-Donkey Kong Country: TF (just updates) 30 MB
-Nintendo Land (just updates) 341 MB
-Super Mario Maker (just updates) 512 MB
-Pikmin 3 (just updates) 948 MB
-Netflix 47 MB
-Amazon 63 MB
-Youtube 44 MB

@Chandlero: I stand corrected then, I haven't played either of those games in a while, so maybe there's a huge update waiting for me.
