Topic: WiiU Browser not working on most sites anymore

I started getting this problem a few days ago. All of a sudden, the NetFront browser stopped right before the Nintendo Life page was fully loaded and then became stuck. I could only scroll, but touching a link wouldn't do anything. The same case for a lot of other sites, like Blogspots, Serebii, and Kiranico, which I use regularly. I'm just glad the NL forum still work so far... but who knows for how long?
I called a friend who owns a WiiU as well and asked him to check if he had any trouble with the browser - he didn't. I deleted all save data from the browser and started it again, but the problem persists. I restarted the router, but even that made no difference.

Now I'm kinda out of ideas, since my PC is broken, and the WiiU is the only thing in my house with a working browser. Strangely, everything else works just fine. Monster Hunter, Mario Kart, WiiU Chat, MiiVerse - all those have no sign of problems.
Has anyone had this happen? Does anyone know a solution?

@Kaze_Memaryu Just tried all the sites you mentioned and had zero problems, I'm not sure what would cause this.

Delete cookies or try switching the user agent... I always keep the user agent on Wii U but there have been times when I needed to change it

Tried both - unfortunately, nothing's changed. If all else fails, I'm gonna have to contact Nintendo.

There has been the odd few occasions when pages were slow to load or had problems but then the next day they worked fine

Yeah, and a lot more people use it than I expected. Apparently, everyone loves it.

It's amazing, and incredibly useful when your own computer is already being used by someone else.

Yep, the same ACCESS NetFront NX the PS4 uses, but with some features removed, and less general performance. But it's very handy, and the GamePad makes it easy to use. Though right now I find it hard to praise...

By the way, I just wrote a mail to Nintendo Support - I'll report back once I get an answer (for those who care).

Gotta keep this alive for now, just in case someone has a solution...

Nintendo Support still hasn't answered, and I'm really starting to get mad. I just hope it's not a memory issue, because that'd mean I'd have to send iin my WiiU.

Update your router and get rid of all that port forwarding and DMZ, unless you absolutely need it. Go into your router's settings and update it. If your router is REALLY old, it might be time to get another one.

Like any device, they always work best with the latest firmware. Just because your PC can connect to the router, does not mean updating it is a waste of time for ALL of your devices.

Truth. I had an ancient and cheapish DSL modem/router/switch that worked fine without any trouble for everything EXCEPT Animal Crossing New Leaf. I tried everything (DMZ, port forwarding etc) but to no avail. In the end i gave up, bought a new router and as if by magic the AC:NL problems were fixed without any finetuning.

As did I. I had an old router from 2004 that finally bit the dust after years of updating the firmware on a regular basis, manually. I had to replace it not long after Mario Kart 7 came out. The internet browser doesn't even connect to Nintendo's servers at all, so it should be pretty obvious how much help it would be to port forward or use DMZ.

It really is an amazing browser. Sure nothing beats a PC, but as far as consoles go, this is the best, and even better than phones/tablets. The way you can play youtube videos and continue browsing it's just so much fun and "next-geny".

@SCAR392 Hm, gotta try that. My router is pretty new, though, so I highly doubt I need a new one (a 2012 model). It's also up-to-date, but I have custom restriction settings because my ISP normally blocks connections to IP's from certain countries (a huge problem with Monster Hunter). I'll try resetting them and check back.

EDIT: Hm, mixed results. Some site (like this here NintendoLife) work normally again, some still load-freeze. Maybe I'll reset all router settings and try again, but not today. Still, thanks a lot for the help, @SCAR392 !

I don't think it is better than a tablet browser. A bluetooth keyboard is not an option. The resolution is lower. (Which matters for badly designed sites).

Ok. Ya, the router itself is fine if it's 2012 and updated to the latest firmware. Resetting your router settings will definitely be best option for you to do. If your ISP is blocking you from certain IPs, it would probably be best to leave it alone instead of trying to find a work around.

USB keyboards are an option, though, and it's still pretty pointless. If you decide to tap on a text box to type in, you still end up having to press ok on the GamePad, so a Wii remote keyboard option doesn't exist, thus far. Also, I'm guessing you wre talking about the GamePad resolution? The browser shows up in 1080p on an HDTV. That's more than enough for every site I've ever been to.

Is anyone else experiencing memory issues with the browser? Many websites are now maxxing out the Wii U's RAM while using the Wii U browser, but this problem is even happening on my android which has 6 GB of RAM which is baffling! Have online sites really become so advanced that you need high-end computers to run them properly?!
