Hey, that rhymes...

Anywho, the lack of any big announcements for Wii U at this E3 really did not surprise me one bit. Nintendo needs to make sure NX doesn't have as bad a start as Wii U did. The only way to do that is with a great launch lineup. Games take a long time to make. If they put all their effort into making titles for the Wii U now, and the NX does come at the end of 2016 like many believe, then it'll literally be impossible to prevent NX from starting off just as bad as Wii U did.

They need to focus all their efforts on an incredible NX launch. Think of this.. We still don't know what Retro is doing. We can assume the Mario team is making a new 3d Mario, and we know the Zelda team is making a new Zelda. If the NX kaunches with Metroid Prime 4 or equivalent, Mario Galaxy 3 or equivalent collectathon, and the brand new Zelda, then that is essentially the very best launch lineup a Nintendo system has ever launched with.

They need to do something to ensure their survival in the console space. It's simply not worth putting major effort into the final year of a console that no matter WHAT they release, hasn't seen much of an improvement. They really tried. Pikmin, 3D Mario, 2D Mario, DKC, Mario Kart, Smash... All the franchises that used to push tons of units just didn't work for Wii U. New franchises? Zombi U, Splatoon.... Those didn't work either. At some point, you need to realize as a company, "No matter HOW good we make these games, we need a major change in the console, because it's just not attracting customers".

Nintendo listened to what franchises we wanted this year. Did anyone notice that? We wanted Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, a Mario sports game, and a Mario RPG/Paper Mario. Those were literally the 4 biggest requests I've seen all year, and they gave us every one. But everybody is saying "How strange that we got them, but not quite in the way we wanted..." That's because they need to focus their efforts on NX games' development, so they gave us the franchises in a way they could pump out QUICK. It's about giving people just enough value / titles to not feel cheated about a Wii U purchase, while ensuring they don't repeat the same mistakes with the NX launch.

Zelda (which will be dual release, probably), Xenoblade, SMT x FE, Mario Tennis U, Yoshi's Wooly World, and Starfox are JUST enough big releases to make it acceptable until NX launches (by Nintendo standards, anyways)
