I personally haven't gotten my Wii U yet, but I am planning on it and excited for it. I've been watching all the news carefully, though, and feel (like most of the rest of you) that somewhere along the line there have been a few missed opportunities or poor choices.
So what's the biggest one for you, whether in the Wii U itself or launch day software? Is it no GameCube support? No GamePad support for Virtual Console? Mass Effect 3 without the Mass Effect Trilogy? No achievements? You name it here.
For me it's the ZombiU multiplayer. Granted, I haven't yet played it, but everything I've read is "it's fun, but nothing to last you more than a few rounds." Here's the missed opportunity, though: it could have been the PERFECT opportunity to showcase asymmetrical multiplayer. Right now, it's two player competitive. But it could have been so much more. Give four players FPS controls with the Pro controller while the King of the Zombies tries to kill them all. Multiplayer modes for more than two players since the N64 have come in two general types, four-player competitive and four-player cooperative. Left 4 Dead did the cooperative zombie-survival thing well and countless shooters since Goldeneye have done the competitive thing well. Having the 4-on-1 system would have perfectly and brilliantly blended the competitive and cooperative gameplay styles, as the team of shooter-survivors are having to practice teamwork to not only stay alive (cooperative), but outwit and outplay the GamePad player (competitive). I'm still considering ZombiU for whenever I do get my hands on the system, but the two-player limited multiplayer mode is what convinced me not to buy it full-price. I'll get it used or at a reduced price because of the exclusion of this obvious feature.
So what's been the most disappointing missed opportunity for you?

If the lack of a great multiplayer is stopping you from picking up ZombiU, you probably shouldn't get it at all.
I did point out I'll most likely still get the game. I'm not an enormous fan of the survival-horror genre, but a lot of the features made me want to give it another shot with this one. That exclusion was jut the thing that made it cross the line from a $60 purchase to buying it used.

Well, your the fact that you wanted the game to have a bit more multiplayer capabilities already makes it seem like you're not the type of person that Zombi U is for. It's built for a completely Single-Player experience, with multiplayer tacked on. The fact that you won't pay full price because it didn't expand the tack on makes the odds that you enjoy it for it lower.
Hope you DO enjoy it whenever it is you pick it up though.
I think it's a pretty good game, although I do wish I could use everthing onscreen as a weapon, kick, punch... Pretty much Dead Rising, but still have the backpack, fp perspective, and better characters. I think they made it harder this way too, making it seem like there are rules whil.e fighting zombies by not being able to do what I said above. Not being able sprint and attack in any game has always dissapointed me...
As for the Wii U, I have no complaints. GCN is gone, VC isn't made for it yet(could be), freezing only happens occasionally like other HD consloes, except less in comparison.

Wii requiring its own channel. Really shouldve been merged with the main Wii U Menu. And the Wii Shop contents should've been merged with the Wii U eshop. Even if the prices, content, and lack of Gamepad support was still the same, a merger would have felt more like it belongs on the U. (And maybe would have given me more hope in eventually having VC games patched with Gamepad support!)

I get the point of the game, but if a character is slow, weak, and can't make use of resources, it automatically makes me put-off kinda... Hell, even I'm faster and stronger than the characters in the game. I think it's a pretty good game, but not being able to do stuff as quick and effectively as I can in real life is a dissapointment.

Apparently Frank West was smarter too, because he would use anything in sight to kill zombies, and did cool melee moves. He even killed not brainless psychopaths.

I agree. You don't have to switch to a DS menu on the 3DS to play DS or DSiWare games.
How about simply marketing the system better? I worked in electronics tonight and so many people had questions about what the heck the Wii U even was. "Is this a new portable system?" , "So if I already have a Wii, I don't need one right?", "Is this just an add-on?" . I know some of you will flame me, but hearing so many people in the general public say things like this really makes me think the Wii U is gonna have a rough time. Keep in mind that everyone wanted a Wii when it first came out, not just the Nintendo faithful. The Wii U just does not seem to be "clicking" with people like the Wii did.
I guess it also doesn't help that the Wii U station only has one playable demo. Why not have actual demos, not just video, of NSMBU and Nintendo Land?
I would have liked Wii compatibility seamlessly integrated instead of a swordste channel. Also wiiware and vc games available to buy on the eshop and available to play in the gamepad.
To further improve the integrated Wii compatibility - and I can't see it's difficult unless it opens a hacking entry point - automatically switch modes on game disk insertion, both directions.
Read the disk identifier and auto-select the corresponding channel.

' VC and WW transfer and Wii mode very disappointing (needs update most of all)
' three crashes in three days (needs update as well)
' eShop not as tidy as the Wii Shop (put a simple list-by-release-date in, please)
like:
' flawless GamePad (full of surprises)
' such a good and fast browser (compared to Wii and 3DS this one's lightyears ahead)
' Miiverse much better than expected
' practical features such as the individual network id, the tv control, the parental controls, and the funny videochat.
' Nintendo Land one of the best partygames of all time

If you're supposed to be selling it to them, them DO IT BETTER.
LOL, seriously? Nintendo's job is to sell people on their new console. They are the ones who should be building hype and interest in their new console. I'm not a commisioned salesman. I will certainly answer any questions the customers have about it, but beyond that I have no obligation to push the Wii U on customers.
