If you can afford two consoles and like Nintendo games, I'd say the Wii U makes the perfect companion to your Playstation or Xbox. Every 1st party game on Wii U so far seems to be the definitive experience on the respective franchise. And the GamePad is great too, it may look bulky but it's very comfortable on the hands.

At launch, no, but the library is big enough now to justify the purchase. There's plenty to keep you occupied until the next big software release (Mario Kart 8 on May 30).

However, if you're buying it mainly for Smash/Zelda, it may be best to wait for Smash/Zelda. It's likely to come with a bundle for both, so you can save money that way.

I might will till autumn, ill be graduating in a few months so by then hopefully ill be working full time.

Of course I'm going to ask on a Wii U forum lol, there's a high possibility you guys own a Wii U and have an opinion on it.

And you have zero way of knowing if that opinion matches your own. Only you know how much you enjoy Nintendo games, or certain features about the system. Instead you're trusting a forum consisting of a bunch of Nintendo-loving pre-teens and adults with neck beards that would give one of their kidneys for a new Zelda game (not that there's anything wrong with that /seinfeld)

There will undoubtedly be a certain percentage of people that are encouraged to get the system by this forum, and consequently end up disappointed. There's no way of knowing if you'll be in that percentage.

If you have always purchased Nintendo consoles and love their franchises, there is a decent probability you'll like more Nintendo games. Just don't get hyped up by this forum and purchase the console if you're comfortable waiting it out and seeing if there's a price drop.

@AlexSays None of the replies so far seem very biased.

The thread is young my brother. Remember there are people here that tout Zombie U as a masterpiece like Ocarina of Time. lol.

Any opinion about the library though is biased. People saying 'yeah there's plenty of games' have no idea what games the TC will like. He could like more, he could like none. That's why these opinions are useless and people have to independently research and decide for themselves.

I could have found a group of people telling me the Virtual Boy had a great library back in the day, everything is relative and perceptions aren't reality.

^ Thank you for your 6 paragraphs explaining that Nintendo Life users generally enjoy Nintendo games.

What, like full moons, silver bullets, and eyebrows that join in the middle?

English is not my first language, but I do believe there is an expression that applies well here... Ahh, it's "Pot meets kettle".

Hell to the yes it's worth it. Bought mine last April- and I easily got my $350 worth out of it. There's some pretty cool eShop games like Castle Storm, Star Wars Pinball, Edge, TNT Racing, plus Mario 3d Land, Donkey Kong, W101, Pikmin, Rayman Legends are all very much worth while. I have 30 retail titles- not all are equal, but none are truly bad, IMO.

if you own a ps3 and have ps plus (and have had said plus for awhile) then no. 3ds is the better choice right now.

though come fall when all the better titles release then yes. I would buy it then.

the wiiu does have good games out right now, but they are very short in terms of game length (with the exception of monster hunter ultimate) but in the end its up to you.

cheers.

Excuse you. I would donate more than just a kidney for Zelda ;)

As for the original question, do some research and find out which games you'll like. Or better yet, you can ask specific questions if you haven't already

as a new owner of a Wii U i love it. I own a PS4/Xbox One and Im barely touching them cause I cant stop playing Mario 3D World. I love the Game Pad as I can lay in my bed or on my couch in the living room and still play.

Zero complaints so far. Another thing I love is chatting with the masses. Its cool when you can post up and everyone can see what you posted or draw pictures for everyone to see.

Like the guy said that would have more fun with a ball and a cup than a Wii U (lol) It is a matter of opinion, and here's mine... I got my Wii U just before Christmas, and I couldn't be happier... I even researched it first and despite the never-ending wave of "doom and gloom" articles and people pissing and moaning I went with Wii U over the other 2 because I hadn't had a nintendo console since N64, and the desire to play 3D World was great, and I was not disappointed... I've since purchased 16 games, mostly on ebay new for half or less of their original price, and have hardly played most of them because I was compelled to 100% the mario and luigi games that came with the system due to how fun I found them, after that was working on 3D World, didn't have time to 100% that because Donkey Kong came out, and that game is truly a masterpiece, as I'm sure you've probably read... Sprinkled in between those were some cool games I got on eshop for cheap, still more I need to get... on top of that since I never had a Wii and it plays Wii games I still have to get the galaxy games and whatever other must have games for Wii that I read about... not to mention MarioKart is coming, and Smash and Zelda, etc,etc.... In short, if they didn't release another game after what's out now and what's been announced, I'd be playing for a long, long time... And as for the gamepad, loving it, hard to go back to a regular controller... sturdy yet light and comfortable... sure, more games could use it in new and cool ways, but just because a game may not use it for much, doesn't make the game any less fun... Donkey Kong for instance only uses it for off-TV play, and anyone who claims to enjoy video games and doesn't play that one is really missing out, would be like giving Rembrandt only crayons to work with ( the cheap ones, not Crayola... not the 64 pack, but the 8 pack...with 3 broken ones) So...uh....yeah... I'd say it's worth it...lol

Hey, kids of America, it's hand-painted, wooden Ball in a Cup! Who needs constant electronic video stimulation when there's Ball in a Cup, Mexico's favorite toy for over 340 years! Toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so there's no worry if you don't catch the ball in the cup, and clean-up is as easy as catching a ball in a cup! So why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you could be catching a ball in a cup?

Ball in a Cup, Ball in a Cup, it's a Ball in a Cup!
