The name is stupid but that third-party line-up was much worse than the name. I felt like I was watching a line-up for a microsoft or sony console, not a nintendo console and I didn't see one game in that line-up that excited me at all. If it wasn't for the new smash bros. I'm not sure I would even be considering getting it right now. This announcement is nowhere near as exciting as the announcement of the 3DS was last year. There were so many awesome games to look forward to for the 3DS when it was announced, both first and third party but its not like that at all this year and the way that they seemed reluctant to show much for it made it seem like it was rushed.

Late to the party here; don't know if this has been said, but I think people will forget the "U" and just start calling it "Wii" or "Wii 2" once it has been out for a few months and the original is off the grid.

Just like the 3DS. But I'm sure the first-party titles will be there. I'd rather have them say nothing than pull a Skyward Sword and have us waiting three years for a game.

The 3DS didn't seem rushed when they showed it last year. There loads of exciting first and third party games announced for it and many of them had trailers and/or gameplay demos. This is not the case with the wii U.

It makes me think of this guy (unfortunately).

But aside from the name, I'm quite happy with it.

I wanted to see a Wii 2, better motion control, way more power to stop the dumbed down third-party titles, etc. Instead most are still baffled as to what this think actually is, and lots of people thought that the controller was an add-on to the Wii! It felt like a poor, rushed presentation that left more question than answers, and not in the intriguing way. I really hope that time changes all of this, but I'm really disappointed in what I've seen.

All of this basically, the only thing they showcased was pretty much the controller and you only got a small glimpse of the actual console when it was sitting in the corner tucked away and to be honest it looked like a Wii so I thought it was just a brand new controller for the Wii... wrong.

If they showed us what it could do then I'd be happy, but instead we get a half-arsed presentation and a "deep" look into the controller, I mean how will it work? How will it be incorporated? Will developers still incorporate the Wii remote? What does it do? How much is it going to be? I'm still baffled by Nintendo's E3, nothing spectacular for Skyward Sword, same for everything really.

I felt very disappointed when it was pretty much what the 3DS has to offer, their in the final phases for Skyward Sword, Wii U being released next year. I mean, where's the gameplay? Where's the talk about what's coming to Wii and 3DS? We got nothing pretty much.

@WaveBoy They showed that it has backwards compatiblity with the Wii controllers and accessories.

At first I thought it was an incredibly stupid name, but then I realized you can pronounce it like a siren, and that made it fun. Wee-oo wee-oo wee-oo!

Remember the episode of Spongebob where he's a hall monitor? And he and Patrick go around the streets shouting "Weeeeyooo, weeeeeyoooo, weeeeeyoooo!" like a siren?

I think the systems name is a play on words like in the mario party 8 commercial where 2 guys at the door say "Wii would like to play". The word "Wii" really means "We". So for the WiiU it's like saying "We and you". Thats what i think.

Reggie already explained the play on words, though he meant it as a Wii for YOU.

I don't get why people think the name is SOOO horrible. We all hated the name 'Wii' MUCH, MUCH worse when that was announced and we all got used to it.

System looks good so far. The name is terrible. Also very disappointed in Nintendo's showing. If I was just going by this e3 I'd say Nintendo is now the only company making original games for its platforms...
