Topic: Wii U Will Not Power On After Powering Off

Here's the situation:

I bought my Wii u two days ago. Love the console! There's just one problem: upon initially plugging it in and playing, it performs great. The issue is when I power it off, then try to turn it back on to play later. When I turn the console off, the system has a flashing red LED light where the blue LED power indicator is. When I press the power button on the console, nothing happens. If I try to boot it up using the GamePad, the GamePad doesn't recognize the Wii U and tells me to move closer, even though I'm two feet away from it. The only solution I have found is to unplug the console and then plug it back in. This allows me to finally turn the console on. It still performs well, it just won't turn back on after being turned off. I tried resetting the AC adapter and had no change in result. I even turned off standby mode, thinking that might have accidentally caused some complication; still no fix. I called tech support and they said I could send the console in, but I was hoping there was something else I could do (who wants to send their new toy away for 1-2 weeks??). I wouldn't be opposed to backing up the system and trying to do a system reset, as long as it has the chance to fix it. Any ideas?

I've never heard of anyone having such problems with the Wii U hardware, myself. But if you've only had the system for two days, you should be able to bring it back to the store you bought it from and exchange it, even if it was pre-owned. If you already linked it to your Club Nintendo account, that might suck but it's the only option I know of without sending it on for a fix.

I had considered taking it back to do an exchange, but the problem is I got the Zelda Bundle and really don't want to give up that sick GamePad haha. Not to mention the 10 hours I've already put into Wind Waker HD.

Yeah, I see your point. I wouldn't want to give up that progress either. However, as far as the gamepad goes, I would think they would give you the same bundle at the store. Might want to call about that one.

Does holding the power button do anything?

Lots of censorship here...

I actually work at the store (it's a Walmart) and as far as I can tell they won't be receiving anymore of the Zelda bundles.

Holding the power button doesn't do anything. I've tried it a couple times in hopes it might reset the system or something (like a hard reboot with a PC).

Best to send it in now, then wait later when you have even more games, saves, and time invested.

If you know anyone else with a U maybe see if you can borrow his/her AC Adapter, as it may just be a problem with that.
