Topic: Wii U vs. OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

Hello. I'm a gamer. I have a Wii U. I also have OCD.

I got my Wii U at launch. I purchased it along with Nintendo Land, NSMBU and ZombiU. I have really enjoyed my experience with the WIi U so far and I'm looking forward to the future.

I also purchased the fantastic Nano Assault Neo at launch. After a month or so I decided to purchase Chasing Aurora, Little Inferno, Trine 2 and Puddle. I played through these games but unfortunately did not enjoy any of them. I played them through from start until finish. However, I do regret purchasing them.

These purchases exist in my eShop account history. They also exist in my Wii U Daily Log. I wish I could delete the purchases from my eShop account and WIi U Daily Log. Yeah, I Miiverse'd about them whilst I was playing them and these posts can be deleted easily. However, the eShop history and Daily Log would still exist.

I can't delete my Nintendo Network ID and start again as I would lose all of my Miiverse comments and drawings. I would also lose my personal Mii data, the other Miis and Daily Log information that I'd like to keep.

I don't think anyone would ever understand the sheer frustration that I feel in not being able to edit my eShop account information and Daily Log. I hope, but very much doubt, that Nintendo will enable users to have this level of control over their accounts in the future as it would solve this particular problem.

I've also had this issue with Steam (the online PC gaming service). I'd be interested to hear of any other gamer's OCD or similar issues that they face with the Wii U or other gaming platforms.

So, you want a refund? I don't fully understand the situation.

I don't want a refund. I want to be able to erase the purchases from my eShop account and remove any record that I have played them from the Wii U Daily Log.

I see. I wish there was an option for that as well.

It likely is not an option because of potential problems that would arise from people accidentally deleting games and such.

I get where you are coming from. I have anxiety issues as well. A lot of them are similar to what those with formally diagnosed OCD might experience, though to a lesser degree of course. This type of problem is definitely one that I'm familiar with. I know a lot of people casually claim to have OCD and joke about it. They don't seem to realize that it is an actual condition that is far more serious than "Oh I need to adjust that picture because it's crooked."

That sucks. It's even possible to do that on the 3DS so it should be possible on Wii U.

The Wii U activity log is just all around lamer than the 3DS one.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I'm throughoutly confused about the topic of discussion.

Are we talking about OCD, or are we just throwing wishful thinking at Nintendo about the features we wish we could have?

He's explaining that his OCD is the reason why he really wants this feature that to many others wouldn't be very important.

I had a similar problem with my GOG account where I had a couple of free games I hated in my library. Contacted customer support and removed within a day, amazing service. I refuse to use any service that limits my control on stuff I pay for, even insignificant choices.
Obsolete account systems tied to hardware, dlc fluff and online-only single player games are also sickening.

I would love this feature as well, I've got Trine 2 stinking up my history and it annoys me to no end. Obsessive compulsion was much simpler before digital games came around :[ although I guess these days I don't have so many panic attacks about buying used games online and receiving without a manual, or even worse, without the box inlay D: that happened to me with Metal Slug Anthology. Never played it.

Wait, I don't understand why you would want to be unable to access what you payed for, so why do you want to delete your purchases?

I was unsure if I should post a thread about this problem. But having read all of your comments I can honestly say that the burden feels much less heavy having discovered that I am not the only gamer with this kind of OCD. I just hope Nintendo release updates that allow for more user control over the eShop account and Daily Log so that one day I may be able to put an end to it all.

because he regrets buying them and is annoyed they'll be there forever. If they were physical copies he could sell them and burn the receipts.

It does seem like we should have a right to do this. I honestly don't have OCD so I wouldn't really be able to understand those sort of feelings but I am more than familiar with all kinds of behavioral "disorders" (I hate how negative that word sounds) and forcing these kinds of restraints on people isn't very fair; if it's that difficult for a person to have any record of playing a game, they shouldn't be forced to have that. Personally, my best guess to this constraint is so children can't hide evidence of playing games their parents don't want them playing, but ideally this should be parental control and not forced upon everyone. Unfortunately Nintendo likely isn't aware enough of all the areas of their systems that cause players grief. My only suggestion is to call them up and see if they can help you. Hopefully you'll be able to talk to someone who is understanding of the situation. :-/

I too wish I could erase some games from my eshop license. Bought them, tried them, loathed them, wish I never had to see them ever again in my list of games played or downloaded.

Don't worry, you're not alone in this

Good for the OP for making a point about this. I've never been diagnosed with OCD, but I do have issues with obsessiveness and compulsiveness, and they often detract from my enjoyment of gaming and my other hobbies. Things that most, if not all, other people would view as positives can be enjoyment-blockers when they trigger obsessive or compulsive behavior. I hope for the OP's sake that Nintendo makes the changes he wants, but if not, hang in there buddy!

I could see them letting you delete games from your log but not from the eShop. It would cause problems of Parents purchasing games and their Kids delete them causing the parent to have to re-pay. But I don't see a reason why not to let you delete from your Activity Log

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

OP, how do you feel if you get a game but cannot finish it? Does it make you crazy? What about collecting trophies or achievements? This is kind of interesting.
