Hi i am new in this forum , first i want to apologies in advance for my english ,that's my problem : i would like to buy a wii u until the final of this year , but i have a question i know i read a lot about it the wii u have a terrible internet and a lot of people had trouble , i would like to ask for who live in uk if they had problem with their wii u and the BT Home Hub 3 modem , if they could connect to the wireless AND play online without problem , because i am worried if the wii u it's not working properly with this modem , i will have a big problem because i live in a studio flat and the modem is giving with the flat i dont have access to it to change any parameter so i have just one shoot or the console working or not working with it .
Don't know anything about this specific hub, but can't you connect with a wired connection if it would fail with the WiFi?
unfortunately i cannot do it , the modem is in the hallway i cannot use wired extension because of the door and the smell of smoke outsde (my wife cannot endure smoke smell ) so must to be just wireless , i hope somebody with this modem can answer me if is working properly with the wii u , i did not have problem with the xbox360 and the ps3 but i know the wii u is totaly different about it . if not working i will pick up a new 3DS
I have BT Infinity and I don't use the Home Hub, but an AirPort Extreme for the WiFI. My partner has one of the smaller Home Hubs (I'm pretty sure it's the 3) for her DSL2 BT Internet and I found the WiFi to be rather unreliable so I gave her my old AirPort Extreme and configured it to run in "bridge mode" and it's been great ever since and never drops, whereas the Home Hub needed a regular reboot.
So I'd suggest either contacting BT to see if they'll upgrade your hub or get a reliable WiFi device to put in front of it (like an AirPort, which in my experience is totally bulletproof and easy to configure) and switch off the wifi on the hub.

thank you for the answer but just the landlord can do that and he is a pain in the ass , but i will try if is possible to have a new hub
Pretty sure people just say the Wii doesn't have good online services like games and voice chat and friend lists and stuff.
That is not the same thing as saying they don't work at all with certain modems. If other game consoles connect to the Wi Fi fine than the Wii U should as well.

understandable thank you very much , my ps3 and xbox 360 work very fine so that's a hope for me
That's a shame. Long-term you should get your own place with your own internet. If you have the means you could get a mobile wifi device. 3 has some good data only plans and offer MiFi devices that connect to their mobile network and act like WiFi hotspots.
I have Bt Home Hub 3 (with Infinity). My WiiU connects via wifi. I have not noticed any obvious problems.
thank you very much even i dont have infinity the modem is the same so now for sure i know i will not have problem with the wireless signal neither with the settings /internal firewall
Ah, I do seem to recall on the Wii the MTU defaulted to 0 and had to be manually changed to 1500 (certainly in my experience). I don't think that's the case with the Wii U, but it can't hurt to go into the network settings to confirm whether or not that's the case.

Have you tried power line adapters? They allow you to use your home electrical points as ethernet points so you can wire into the hub rather than use wifi.

My Wii U just straight-up connected to my HH3 straight out of the box, didn't have to alter any settings, just input the security code.
I get very occasional errors when playing MK8 online, but don't suspect this to be a problem at my end - surely everyone gets the odd communication error with the servers sometimes...
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
