Topic: Wii U VC Online Play

I was looking at this cool thing for emulators online called GGPO. It got me thinking about the Wii U VC and how they could make an interface that would allow you to play VC games with online multiplayer. I am assuming all they would have to do is allow for a way the players can get in the port through the online connection. If they were to make a general system that would allow for what traditionally was local to hook it up and run online for any game, that would be cool. Miiverse could also make it easier to maybe play with other people and make a tournament with fighting game standards. I was thinking how cool this would be and with a general interface they wouldn't have to remake the game or mess around with it a lot. What do you guys think of this. They already have this for one of the SSF2 Genesis games. I am pretty sure they could make a way where it was just a feature that could apply to any VC game.

We had this topic lots of times with the original Wii, but other than SSF2 and the Puyo Puyo games in Japan, this never happened. I'm not sure if that was a special deal with Sega, or if all developers can do this now if they choose, but Sega has been the only company to do this so far. Those games also showed that you can add online without changing anything about the original game, simply choosing regular play or Wi-Fi Connection play when the game boots up. I do hope we see more online VC games with the Wii U, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Couldn't they have it so it's a feature for all VC games that are multiplayer? Why would the publisher withhold if it just became another aspect of VC in general?

I assume the reason more wii VC didn't come is because in the beginning they couldn't because of cost, and at the end they were so close to WiiU that they wanted the Nintendo network incoperated instead of the old wifi thing, I bet we'll see more online VC in WiiUs life, hopefully for GCN games as well, I'd buy Kirby's air ride for online, heck even Melee would be nice

Why wouldn't they? You gotta realize these publishers want money, so they'd charge you for it.

I mean what it was a feature Nintendo put as a part of the VC interface all together. It can apply to any game with multiplayer.

Please yes.
I'd buy a Wii U just for this, if I wasn't already getting one.
Not holding my breath though.

At the very least allow online play for games that allowed for LAN gameplay. Which would be Kirby's Air Ride, Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and a few others. If any game could be online, out of any gamecube game, I'd want TimeSplitters: Future Perfect the most. Humans vs. Bots. It would be great.
