I didn't actually watch the conference, I read the text updates here at NL. At any point, was a Virtual Console for Wii U mentioned??? I've read nothing about it in comments, etc., so I'm assuming there wasn't. Is anyone else concerned? I've read nothing about VC on Wii U yet. I mean, it seems like a safe assumption that they'll continue to support it. The way support wanes on Wii & 3DS for long periods of time, I am worried that they'd drop VC with Wii U. Also, anyone heard about transferring our Wii downloads to Wii U?
Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

Honestly I dont see what the big deal is on being able to transfer Wii downloads to the Wii U. If you are that worried about losing your downloads than just dont sell or trade in your Wii, than you will have your downloads.

Still, Nintendo need to address this issue, w/ accounts, rather than tied to one console. What about ppl getting another Wii? That's just an example, of course.
1. Will all(or most) of my Wiiware and Virtual Console titles be transferable to the Wii U?
2. Will I be able to play VC games on the Wii U game pad without needing to have the television on?
#2 is really big for me. I have many neglected VC titles because the television is in too high of a demand. It seems that I end up only playing AAA titles on the television. However, I am always playing DS and 3DS titles while others are watching TV in the same room. I would love to be able to catch up on my VC backlog with the Wii U.

Nintendo hasn't said anything in regards to, or about this issue.

Thank you for the confirmation that nothing has been announced thus far. Hope there's some positive news on these things soon, as I'm sweating bullets over VC's future (VC is one of my favorite features of Wii & 3DS).
@DrKarl
I can't believe I haven't wondered about number 2 myself! It would instantly turn all the NES, SNES, N64, et cetera classics on VC into handheld games! I also hope Wii U has suspend states, like 3DS (which would allow me to at last finish some tougher limited-continue games, like StarTropics, LOL).
They'll probably go more in depth about all this and more with a Nintendo Direct sometime soon. I'm glad they focused more on the games (although I wish less time was spent on some) than tech specs and other information.
Here's hoping they'll not only make all Wii downloads transferable to the Wii U, but also make all VC games playable on both the Wii U and 3DS! I'd love to take SNES games with me on my 3DS.

Glad to know now that our VC and Wiiware games are transferable to the Wii U, but I do have one concern about it. I was reading somewhere that Wii games and VC games that you downloaded and transferred from the Wii will play in "Wii Mode". So, what about VC games that we download from the Wii U? Will those play in "Wii mode" too, or are they kept seperate on the Wii U and possibly have additional features like save states? I'm hoping to be able to keep my VC games together, regardless of what system they were downloaded on.
@brooks83 I've been wondering about this too. And in fact it has some other worrying possibilities:
some (not all) VC games on PAL Wiis had problems with 60hz 480p using component cables. If VC games on the Wii U are within a "Wii mode" does that mean those games won't work over HDMI?
I was hoping that you'd be able to use either the Wii U Game Pad or the new Pro Controller on VC games (i.e. those games would recognise them as a Classic Controller, as they have all the same buttons). But if it's in a "Wii Mode", it probable won't recognise the new Wii U controllers, so we probably need to keep hold of our Classic Controllers as well...
I don't understand the quotes that say VC will run in Wii mode...if VC is on the eshop, and the fact that it's on 3DS makes me think it will be...why do I have to go into Wii mode to play the games? Will I never be able to play Star Fox 64 on the GamePad?
And I really really hope that the Pro controller is recognised as a Classic Controller too. Not just because of VC though, for Wii games too. I'm 50/50 on the chances of this, right now...
i'm certain that nintendo confirmed that you can transfer your VC games to the wii u. i'm wondering what resolution they'll output at.... will it still be 480p? if the system is capable of 1080p, i don't see why it wouldn't output them at that resolution, just the same way the wii output them at 480p even though that wasn't their original resolution. reggie sort of shot down the idea of upscaling for wii discs, but VC games are different. this is one of the few things i'm waiting to know about the system...

My guess is that anything in "Wii mode" - retail games, VC or WiiWare - will output at 480p. Maybe they'll release Wii U optimised versions of VC games in the Wii U eShop which run at 1080p or at least 720p, but I bet you'd have to buy those titles again.

I expect you'll be able to transfer downloads from Wii to Wii U, but you'll have the same limitations. I seriously doubt Nintendo would sell anything in the new eShop that only ran in Wii compatibility mode. In a perfect world people who bought VC titles on Wii should be able to download the Wii U-ified versions at no extra charge, though seeing as we have yet to hear how content transfer will work it remains to be seen.
I didn't buy a lot of VC stuff on my PAL Wii, so I'm not fussed about that, but I can imagine a lot of people would be ticked off to be able to transfer content, but not get Gamepad support and 60Hz play without buying for the eShop.
