Topic: Wii U Transfer

I have my Wii U since launch and I'm still in doubt about the Wii to Wi U transfer. I read some conflicting information online and some things are still unclear to me. So I hope someone can help me answering these questions.

1) I have a SD card in the Wii with a lot of WiiWare and VC games. How are these games going to be transfered. Do I need to redownload them? And how are these games visible on the Wii U, are they only accessable from the SD card? Or do they come in the same place as all the other games?
2) Are the save files for VC games transfered?
3) Can I still play Wii games (discs) on the Wii after the transfer?
4) If yes for question three, there are a couple of save games I would like to keep on the Wii as well, would it be possible to put them back on the Wii after the transfer?

Well I can answer two of your questions. Saves will not transfer from the Wii to Wii U so you will have to start over again on the games transferred over.

You can only transfer all the games or none you cannot pick and choose games/save states nor can you put back certain games/save states on the Wii once they are transferred over to the Wii U. Iirc you can't transfer back to the Wii from the Wii U once you transferred.

You will be able to play Wii disc games on your Wii after you transfer but you will have to start over on the games since the save files will be on the Wii U now.

I believe saves and the actual games transfer over, for VC and Wiiware, if they are on an SD card and once you complete that transfer, you put the SD care in the WiiU.

@Sneaker13 From what I understand, you should still be able to transfer most save files via the data management section of the Wii U's Wii settings menu.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try the transfer tonight. Too bad about restarting some games, but oh well. Thankfully I can still use the Wii for games I still like to use the GameCube controller for.

You know what's surprising, I have somehow managed to transfer all Wii save data, including SSBB.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

@Tasuki: Save data can be transferred over. The Wii mode on the Wii U should be able to read any game saves just like the Wii. And like others have said, even Smash Bros and Mario Kart save data can be transferred.

Oh I stand corrected than. I thought I read somewhere that the save files dont transfer over. My bad for the misinformation.

I've transferred everything. Fantastic loading screen. I've encountered any problems so far. Only gripe is that I needed to download all games that were on my SD card. Pretty annoying. And my own Mii doesn't show up in games, the other Mii's does. Bit weird.
