So i have a wii u and i wanted to hook it up to my pc monitor.I had a vga to dvi-a adapter and i bought a hdmi to dvi-d adapter. I tried to connect it but the monitor doesn't see it.Is it because a dvi-a cant go into a dvi-d?Or is it something else?

With your current setup, how were you going to get audio? Does the HDMI to DVI-D adapter have audio capabilities?

HDMI to VGA is very bad and it just works with an active converter. Just a cable and adapter is not enough. HDMI is digital and VGA analog and therefore you really need to translate the signal.

However, you could try a WiiU component cabel with a VGA adapter.
