If you like Zelda and never had a console, yes you should definitely get a Wii U. And get Wind Waker HD. I'm sure you'll discover many Nintendo games you would like besides Zelda. Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Mario Kart, Xenoblade and many more. And buying a Wii U, you also get a Wii. As Wii U is fully compatible with Wii games and controllers, you have an entire generation of Wii games to keep you busy while your waiting for more Wii U games. That means at least two amazing Wii Zelda games: Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Not to mention Virtual Console will grant you access to more older consoles.
I assume you used to game more on PC. If you are a PC gamer and want to try a different kind of games than what you're used to on PC, then Nintendo will be a great ride for you.
Another great option would of course be the Nintendo 3DS. Packed with great Nintendo games, it depends on whether you like to play more on a portable console you can take with you, or on a bigger screen TV at home. They are two different experiences.
Something, Something,Something, ignore Sony 70.. and go for it... but the first thing you NEED to make sure you have is a HDD if you go basic.. picking up Zelda later is a good idea with Wonderful 101.. Monster Hunter 3 U.. since you like adventure games.. and there is some titles in the Eshop that should keep you entertained until some of the other hits come out.. Although I do agree with Canis on this one too.. you could get.. actually a new Wii for cheaper.. and you would have access to two Zelda titles... and some other titles as well.. that you would most likely enjoy.. (Although technically you can play old Wii games on the U... but the Wii has a better online titles and more... as well as backward comp. with Gamecube which has a lot of games you'll enjoy as well.. ) either that or go with a 3DS... on the Eshop is a lot of Zelda games.. and the.. sequel?? to a Link to the past is coming as well... it probably has more games you would be interested in as well..
I am a wild and free Ninetails not a trainer.. get over it...
Only the first Wii model has GameCube backwards compatibility and I'm not sure its still being sold new at stores. You probably would have to hunt down a used Wii to get it. GameCube is great, but there is still hope its games will eventually be made available on Wii U Virtual Console, so I think I'd still recommend getting a Wii U. Its the new Nintendo console after all and you'll want to get the new stuff.
The only zelda game on the gamecube is WW which is getting a HD remake and every other game can be found one the VC on the both wii u and wii
Wrong. It has Twilight Princess, too. The best version of Twilight Princess, I might add.
While correct I guess his point was that you can play the two GC Zeldas on Wii U. Wind Waker HD for Wii U and Twilight Princess for Wii (Wii remote and nunchuk are a very decent control method, I vouch for that) on compatibility mode. Thus, the importance of GC compatibility for our Polish Zelda fan is not that great.
While we're at it, Gamecube also had Four Swords Adventures, but I don't think anyone would bother. And besides he mentioned not having many friends to play with him, so that one is no good.
I actually quite like the singleplayer in Four Swords Adventures. Like, more than the multiplayer. And You can't possibly be telling me that shaking your Wii remote like a madman is a good suppliment for pressing a button.

-_-
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA

And you can't possibly be telling me that aiming with an analog stick beats the intuitive IR pointer of Wii remote for shooting projectiles. I only have the Wii version of Twilight Princess, but I can soundly say that it is perfectly playable and the motion controls did not stop me from loving the game and making it my favourite Zelda game.

Heh, to each its own. Some people prefer the Analog controls and some people prefer the wii remote.
Twilight Princess is still a good game either way.
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
Don't have a Wii? Then you must get a Wii U for Wii backwards compatibility! Also Wii U games like New SMB U, Trine 2: Director's Cut, Rabbids Land, and upcoming games like Wii Party U (comes with an extra Wiimote!), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Wii Sports Club (downloadable game with play passes).
Oh, and don't get the "Basic" version unless it's EXTREMELY cheap. The Basic set is crap. If you can't get Premium, don't get a Wii U.
If you want a completely different gaming experience and Zelda is one of your favorite game titles, then it's a no brainer, it's worth the purchase. Outside of Zelda, here's some great upcoming titles as well. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3d world, Mario Kart 8, SSBB, Bayonetta 2, X, Yoshi's yarn, Sonic Lost World, Deus Ex Directors Cut and this is just the beginning. I'll admit, I kind of regret purchasing my Wii U in June. I wouldn't be playing the catch up game with these early game titles.
I would say 'congrats' but used won't register for Nintendo I guess... I hope you buy lots of games at least
It's really hard to get Wii U here in Poland, 'cause there's no retailer. As for the games I'll have to buy orginal Motion Plus Wii remote and nunchuck.
With all the games for Wii U on the pipeline, and even the ones out now, I'd say get the Wii U. It's the next generation of Nintendo, so the "Nintendo experience" continues on the Wii U!
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8
