@gcunit et al, MK8 is most definitely a looker. I'd kill for its slow-mo replay mode in Splatoon — I could watch that stuff endlessly. It's not much of an issue during gameplay, but its only drawback is its lack of anti-aliasing, which is a common factor among Wii U games; if the NX can pull off Wii U graphics at 1080p with anti-aliasing, I'll be happy. More would be good, but that'd be easy enough on the eyes for me.

@Dankykong: That screenshot actually looks a lot like an HD Pokémon Stadium or Revolution.

A few more from Twilight Princess. Getting close to that end game (and man, I love the end game here — everything from Arbiter's Grounds on is particularly stellar).

I've recently made a habit of saving Splatoon screenshots so I guess I can post a few here.

These two must be twins. Similar in almost every way right down to fashion sense.

@DreamyViridi, man, I can't wait to see the next iteration of Splatoon. That game has such a strong sense of identity and art direction.

As for my continuing twilight adventures:

If you view that last shot in its full resolution, it's a great example of how clean this game looks. 1080p makes a big difference.

It's 720p when capturing screen shots from the Wii U. It doesn't support 1080p captures.

BTW, how about some first person view shots from Twilight Princess HD? I'd love some of the Hyrule text signs, such as the text at the entrance to Temple of Time. And the wall picture in the cellar in Kakariko Village next to the owl statue.

@jariw, true, my wording wasn't very clear — you get a good sense of the clean look in that particular capture, but it looks even better if you're able to view it in full 1080p resolution (i.e. on your TV screen). I wish we could capture 1080p PNGs, but Nintendo has never seemed to care much about image quality issues in general.

Will definitely grab some first-person shots for ya on my next session. The fact that the heart gauge doesn't go away in first-person view bothers me, but I'll power through it, ha.

@VelvetElvis: Sounds great! BTW, today I found some pictures on the wall in Jovani's house that have insane resolutions in first person view. For example, there's a fruit painting there at a very hidden place that looks almost perfect when zoomed in in first person view. There are quite a few paintings at the Snowpeak Ruins that looks great as well.

Very little time to play lately, but I popped into Twilight Princess and took a few first-person snaps, as requested:

I'm trying not to look too much at these Twilight Princess HD shots, 'cos I've never played it but have it in it's box, but the glimpses of the images I'm seeing are making me look forward to playing it.

Anyway, back to the closer-than-close Mario Kart 8 finishes - this one's a bit harder to see, but if you look closely you'll see Link making an audacious last-second overtake to snatch the win from Metal Mario.
