So a traditional controller that's pretty much an inverted 360 controller. Thoughts?
Personally I'm almost certainly going to get one at some point even if just for Smash Bros. I am slightly worried that there won't be support for the Wii Classic Controller support given they didn't mention it in the video. That would be annoying if it turns out to be true and so I hope it doesn't.

It's not just that.. It's just more comfortable than the X360 controller. Though, that's just me. I have to see how big this controller is because it looks too scrunched up. I'm hoping it's somewhat as wide as the CCPro. I honestly think they should have went for that. And hopefully, the CCPro will still be supported- minus the L3 and R3 button/analogue click.
It'll be interesting to see how it works. If the Wii U just registers button presses (i.e. an 'A' is an 'A', regardless of what device it came from) then that would give instant compatibility for every game with this gamepad, owing to the fact that both devices have identical buttons.
Of course, that begs the question of how devs would deal with the lack of the second screen...
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
Well, with a game like Smash Bros, the second screen probably won't be necessary as well as future Capcom fighters. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Gamecube controller-clone when Smash Bros. 4 rolls out. I cannot play that game right using any other controller method. It's like me unable to play Tatsunoko vs Capcom or Marvel vs Capcom 3 without an Arcade Fightstick.
In terms of first-person shooters, I'm not buying any unless they support the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I'm over analogue for that and I'm far used to the precision and accuracy the keyboard and mouse gives me that the pointer controls emulate :3
This is the reason I want the system. The "reason?": This proves local multiplayer. That was the only worry I had about the system. Once I saw this, I knew I had to get it. Just hoping that the system doesn't pull a PS3 with its price.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.

I think that developers will simply port over all of the best selling PS360 games using the WiiU Pro Controller. You see, with the click-analog sticks and no touch screen, all developers have to do is port the game over and make sure the button mapping works. Say hello to Skyrim on the Wii U...

I like. Also, the mapping of buttons and sticks would allow for third-party (or even official) re-releases of the Gamecube pad, jellybean X/Y buttons and all. Throw on an extra ZL button, add Home, Select and Power, and you've got the perfect tool for when Smash Bros rolls around.

They make the game so it can work in the "play with the TV off" mode and they'll have it working without the second screen or vice versa. Presumably some games will require the second screen and some others will require Wii Motion Plus + Nuncuck and those games obviously won't work with this controller or, for the tablet games, in the "TV off" mode.

Pleeeease pack this in with the systems Nintendo! Doing so would make more developers willing to make the multiplatform games on Wii U as well, because it'd be so similar to the 360/PS3. I do hope devs make use of the gamepad, but I want as many gaming options as possible.
I'll almost definitely get one of these at some point, but I'd rather spend that money (what do you think, $30-40? It does look like a full-fledged controller after all) on a new game for the Wii U at launch.
As for the Classic controller, I wondered the same thing. Strange that it was the only Wii remote not shown... Hopefully it'll still work on the Wii U. I found it best for SNES games, though I'm still annoyed that NOA never saw fit to bring that sweet SNES Wii remote to America.

So they basically just took a Classic Controller Pro and switched the D-pad/ABXY positions with the control stick positions? Am I missing something I should be getting really excited about?
