Wii U Pro Controller:

Is it better for games like MK8 and SM3DW and other games? Or is the gamepad fine?

I've had my Wii U since launch, not a scratch to be found. Those things are almost impossible to get on properly anyway. If there's a single molecule of dust on the screen, it'll make a huge ugly bubble underneath the protector.

Also, wut @ first post.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

The Gamepad is absolutely fine for those 2 games. The Gamepad is even required for the Captain Toad level in SM3DW.

The only games where I prefer to use the Pro Controller are Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 1+2 and Super Smash U. But I can play those games with the Gamepad as well, if necessary. The buttons feel the same, it's just the hands that are wider apart on the Gamepad.

It's not objectively better. It depends on your preference. Personally I don't mind the shape of controller, and since the butten lay out is the same, I'd figured it would be a waste to spend $50 on a Pro Controller when the GamePad works just fine.

I got the first one, the official Nintendo Accesory set. It works perfectly fine. Plus it comes with a larger stylus and a cleaning cloth.

I tried screen protectors before for my DS/3DS...was a nightmare to get on and when I did it got all dirty and messed up, waste of money for me. What other Wii U games you have? Like others have said, the Gamepad is better depending on the games...like Wind Waker HD or Pikmin 3.

I found Smash and Mario Kark better with the Pro controller...3D World is...kinda like a mix between the two. lol

I also use the gamepad for SM3DW but Pro Controller for Smash and MK8. The gamepad really shines on Pikmin 3.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

It's worth getting a pro controller if you play two player games on a regular basis. If not, just stick with what you have.

I think the Gamepad is fine, however there are two-player games like Hyrule Warriors where I find the Remote+Nunchuk option is unacceptable, so I'm getting a Pro Controller for that and Smash. Another factor people cite is vastly superior battery life and in games where the Gamepad is optional and you're doing a marathon play session that might be something to consider.

I think screen protectors are largely a waste of money, but if you have small children it might be worth the piece of mind since I've had co-workers saved from ruined iPad screens in the hands of wee ones. I definitely think the high-capacity Gamepad battery is a must, though.
