I'm not pre-ordering it. I have 180,000 Optimum points saved up at Shoppers Drug Mart, so I'm going to try to do a redemption there to get it close to free I hope: the past couple years they've had a December redemption where you get $250 for 95,000 points, so if they repeat that it's probably when I would get it.
just been checking one rumour out which came from UBI Soft Milan claiming that wii u will be released nov 23rd between £350-400,if true then their must be some serious hardware in their next console? The other rumour is there will be a streetpass card bundled with wii u and with a value of between £5-10 retail.
Why preorder it now unless you have seen a really good incentive that screams this deal is just to good to pass up?
Come on dudes, make the retailers work for your business!
I agree. Pre-ordering without waiting for special deals is a bad idea! In Australia there were places with 3DS launch bundles for $350 (the standard price) and little else, while I seem to remember some places offering far cheaper bundles that included a game and perhaps an accessories pack or something.
Wait until you find one of those before you hand your money over, otherwise you'll likely end up paying too much!
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
Wait until a release date and price is announced. Why put your money down when you don't know if the console will be a reasonable price. Then you can compare different retailer's options.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
£350-400 sounds like a lot, but then I just dropped 400 quid on an iPad which I mainly use to read books! I agree with the sentiment that's it's too early to pre-order when we don't even have a list of launch titles or a release date; much less an RRP.
Rumours of prices are just that, rumours. I personally can't see it being anywhere near £400. If I had to guess, I'd go with £200-£280. Maybe wait till E3 and see if Nintendo announce the price first before pre ordering blindly!? You may get burnt unless you actually know what you're going to need to hand over when you reach those tills.

I eagerly await for the price and release to be set, then I will constantly refresh my Amazon.ca 'Wii U" search until it comes up for preorder.
I just like knowing having one is guaranteed on launch, you know? Plus it will be sent to me, albeit a few days later. Easy! It's how I do all my game purchasing.
Ok so with the big news coming this Thursday and the rumor that Gamestop will be taking preorders for the Wii U I decided that I would preorder mine from Amazon. Well just come to find out that Amazon for whatever reason doesn't sell Nintendo systems directly. The only way they do is from a third party and that party usually jacks the prices up. So with Amazon out of the way I was wondering what other online places can I preorder a Wii U from that I am not going to get jerked around. Please do not mention Gamestop as I will not deal with them for various reasons. Anyone else know any good online retailers.
Oh and btw this only affects Amazon in the US.

But didn't they used to sell the Wii directly? maybe they don't stock in now because the Wii U is coming out...
Well... I just did a chat with Amazon trying to figure out if they will carry the console directly and I don't think the person even knew what the Wii U is. they are like... I don't see that game for sale... I'm like it's a CONSOLE... it ended with we don't currently have that.
@SteveW: I dont know the reason but Amazon doesnt even carry the 3DS XL. I dont know if there is some problem with them and Nintendo but for whatever reason Amazon doesn't deal with Nintendo consoles.
@Ryno: Will they ship it to you or do you have to go to the store to pick it up. The reason I ask is cause I really dont want to go to a store on launch day and I will probably be busy with either work or school when that day is so I probably wont be able to get down there.
