No, just that people (gamers) tend to over-exaggerate and act like little children over trivial things (see also: Bayonetta 2).

There's a fine range of Vita games - why, I've got 20 or so already, and it's a clear case of quality > quantity.

If there are more games that get your attention on the PS Vita, then buy the Vita. Unless you're a die-hard Nintendo fan who already knows that he is going to buy all of the new games in the Nintendo franchises, there is not much of a need to pre-order a Wii U.

Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar.

@teus, of course Sony would say that. Just like Nintendo created the Wii shortage at launch to build up hype and talk for it's console and it looks like they are doing it again for the Wii U, it's a good strategy.

@OlympicCho Sure I agree gamers can never be pleased, they get something they want then they complain about something else, but still the Vita is in dire straights. No one can deny that, and it might have 20 different games and you might think they are quality games too but sadly in our modern society copy and paste games like Call of Duty move systems more than epic games like Zelda or Metroid, it's just fact even though it's so sad. Another reason why I think gaming is dying, not because the threat of mobile gaming, Apple, or the global recession but because true gaming and real gamers are becoming more and more of a niche group. So many people are satisfied with only running and gunning games and cheap entertainment. Point in case, look at our music industry and how far it has fallen, Lil Wayne and Lady Gaga? Really? Those are the changes that make me not want to live in this world anymore (lol, just kidding), seems like society as a whole as cheapened and dumbed down. Though others might love CoD and the two "musicians" i mentioned, so I don't mean to offend anyone, these are all personal opinions that I believe in. That is why Sony NEEDS Monster Hunter on the Vita in Japan and a console like CoD game, not the one they showed off. The CoD casual crowd doesn't like it from the comments I've been seeing.

I can. The PSP was also off to a slow start. Too early to write off the Vita.

Ah, good to know for the Vita, then, since there's a CoD game coming to it.

Another reason why I think gaming is dying, not because the threat of mobile gaming, Apple, or the global recession but because true gaming and real gamers are becoming more and more of a niche group.

Perhaps 'real gamers' need to broaden their minds a little.

Point in case, look at our music industry and how far it has fallen, Lil Wayne and Lady Gaga?

I wasn't aware that there are only two music artists recording music these days. Thanks for the head's up.

seems like society as a whole as cheapened and dumbed down.

Pop culture has always been 'cheapened and dumbed down' - it has also always existed. True story: the first novel written, Moll Flanders, was slaughtered by the critics of the time for being mass-market crap - the Jersey Shore or Lil Wayne of the day.

Why? Because novels were cheap entertainment, not up to the artistic standards of poetry.

In fact, wasn't so long ago that every single video game was considered to be 'for kids' and not a legitimate form of entertainment for intelligent people.

The reason why lil wayne and lady gaga is still around is because their music sells... trust me if no one boughtd any of their albums or songs, they would no longer be around.. . look the vita is doing good right now, i admit its not doing better than the 3ds, but it is doing well... and yes there are still not tons of games for it yet, but id rather few good quality games then tons of crap quality games... quality > quantity.

I really don't know what to say. Both are so different from each other. One is a console, one is a handheld.

@teus In what regard is the Vita doing well? I don't exactly see it doing well right now, what with not many systems being sold, not many games on said system being sold, or not having many games come out for it on a regular basis, thus repeating a cycle of not many systems being sold.

Best thread ever

I wouldn't ask on a Nintendo forum. Actually, I wouldn't ask on any video game forum. Just do the research yourself, and see which games appeal to you more.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

No, just that people (gamers) tend to over-exaggerate and act like little children over trivial things (see also: Bayonetta 2).

Are you counting PSP and PSone games there? Can you list the ones that are exclusives for me? I've been looking for something new to play on my Vita. Thanks :)

Nah, I wasn't actually including PSP games, lol.

What kind of genres are you into? If you like JRPGs you're going to be in heaven with the PSP back catalogue.

In all seriousness, the Vita is probably going to get a price drop in a year or so (you know it's coming) so you could always wait for that. I would say look at the games that you want now for the Vita and then look at the games you want in the "launch window" for the Wii U and decide which one appeals to you most.

Why can't Metroid crawl?

I've played very few of them but yes I'm a fan. I bought myself Ys Seven and that's fun, I really need to get back into it. I'm also going to pick up FF7 at some point though I'm not sure if I'll play it on PS3 or Vita. I'm more interested in full on Vita titles though. Suggestions?

When the Wii on its death bed is selling about the same number of units as a shiny new portable you've got problems. If Nintendo don't constrain supply too much and Sony don't turn something around we could easily be in a position where global sales of Wii U are higher than those for the Vita by years end. It's not dead and there are still games for it but unless something changes it's as close to a dead system as you can get without announcing a successor.

........but really it depends on what you're after because they're very different systems. For all we know both of these systems could fall flat on their face and lose support rapidly. If you mostly play games at home and enjoy some of Nintendo's first party games then the Wii U is easily the better choice. If you're into more third party titles and are more likely to play games at work/school/UNI or on your commute then the inherent advantages of the Wii U mean nothing and Vita is probably the better option.

Keep in mind Vita's capabilities don't go far beyond 3DS, by which I mean the only interesting stuff on PS Vita is already on 3DS. But what's REALLY important is it's game library. It has little to no interesting games whatsoever and that is probably why it's not selling very well, in fact it's not even that popular. 3DS & Wii U on the other hand have LOADS & LOADS of Kick games like New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Pikmin 3, Kid Icarus Uprising, Kingdom Hearts 3D, the list goes on. PS Vita may seem like alot and I tried it to see if it's worth and trust me it's not. And if you choose what could possibly end up being a failed console as appose to the Wii U, a console with a personal second screen that allows you to play games on the controller with a high tech online service and the best games up to date, than something is wrong with you. Even if you don't get a Wii U, REFRAIN FROM GETTING A VITA. It's a waste of money. (Wii U will supply you with EVERYTHING you could possibly need in a gaming console.)

Disgaea on the PSP is a good bet - there's also all the Final Fantasy games up until IX available through the PSP or PSOne Classics.

I recommend starting with those.

The Nintendo guy posting on a Nintendo form with a Nintendo avatar, who has never bought a Vita game, seems to think he knows something about the Vita.

Cute.
